Which one of these skills is the most functional for a very charming detective?

No, lock picking just answers either "who else has motive" or gives an alibi.

lockpicking and research r both smarts, and have nothing to do with charm. so either one would work.

I'm pretty sure lockpicking is tough and research is smarts but that only affects whether you get a discount from the list price - as very charming you won't get discount on either.

Both skills are very useful, but I like research a little better. It always helps in every case, but lockpicking may sometimes give you info you already have or don't need.

I agree! I would get research first and then lockpicking.

research is a smart skill. and lockpicking is a tough one. I have research, and I love it. if i find out person x was at court then I don't have to interview them for alibi. I can save that person for other questions like seeing or hearing something suspicious
