I have come across 3 different problems within 3 days, two of which might be related. Here they are:

1) The Server: Kicked me out and I couldn't log in for hours on end, my other detective lost cases, which I didn't mind because my only purpose to subscribe with that detective was to experiment, in the first place. I hope this never happens to Eden! (this was the other day)

2)
i) Part of Crime Lab Analysis page showed up above Delhi city map!
ii) Sometimes I could display a whole page (suspects pages in general) only if I refreshed it a couple of times.
iii) Get this:

-You check X's alibi. It's valid. You have X's page opened next to the map page, so you click on X's tab. You hit backspace, click on "ask another question" to refresh the page, you see Alibi: Y (real) written at the bottom. Alibi checked, and X's page refreshed.

-Then you go check other alibis, so the map page's been refreshed a couple of times now, and you come across another suspect with the alibi "Y".

-You go to townie Y, and see that X is still there, waiting to be checked!

So I rub my eyes, say to myself "Eden don't screw this up again, blah blah", I revisit X's tab again, and I see X was indeed checked already, and it says "real" right at the bottom.

What on earth is happening? And I don't want a strait jacket, nurse Ratched! (come on, I know it sucks but it rhymes :) )

This was all yesterday, too. I've been having this for at least about a month now -rarely though-, used to think they all were a result of my short attention span but I got it again and this time I was lucky enough to have both tags still open to check it out.

3) I have Advanced Interrogation, Advanced Sweet Talking and Judge of Character, but I have never been able to see any "Try to judge the character" option on suspects' pages.

Is this supposed to be normal?

Thank you Jas. I suspect, however, that 2nd problem-part iii has to do with it since it's happened before. It never affected my question quota, though. Trying to take (an "un"educated) guess: Server log file integrity unharmed despite an overload?

Any idea about Judge of Character not showing on suspects page?

No. That is not normal at all.

You've had this for a month????

And Judge of Character doesn't show up, ever????

Have you tried a different browser Eden, just to make sure the problem isn't on your end?

Sorry for the vague language, it happened 4-5 times at different times in Feb, yes. I would check an alibi with a townie, and after refreshing the map page a couple of times, I'd see the suspect's name when I revisited the townie, as if it had never been checked. This happened yesterday, too. (Overstating to clarify)

As for trying a different browser than Mozilla Firefox to check out whether JoC shows up:

Google Chrome and Internet Explorer yield the same result. I can't use the skill.

Extra: It couldn't possibly have to do with me having negative test adj rate for toughness, could it? I mean if I swapped gears to get tougher, could it work?

No Eden. Once you have JoC, you have it. It doesn't matter what you are wearing. That definitely sounds like a bug. Definitely send a bug report here: http://noir.playsleuth.com/map/cityhall/bug.spy

As for your screen refreshing thing and suspects names still showing up, I'm the last thing from a computer genius but it really seems like that may be something in your browser like you are accessing a cached copy of the page or something of that nature. That's why I was asking about your browser on the refresh issue. If you see that again, don't hit back on your browser, but actually click the link to get to the building and see if it's still there. If it is, then submit a bug report on that as well.

I've been playing with Mozilla for months, now. It doesn't make sense unless a Firefox update has automatically been installed, in which case I don't have a clue as to how to single out this supposedly problematic update and get rid of it.

As far as I know, the game automatically refreshes and reloads as you ask a question. I only use the backspace button or the back button on my browser to eliminate the possibility of suspect death after reload.

What I mean is this: If you asked a suspect their alibi, and then checked it on a separate tab, then returned to this particular suspect's page to ask another question, you'll see the alibi updated even if you just went forward in time, and didn't hit any backspace whatsoever. I am no expert either, but that's how it's been so far, so those two things are very unlikely to be related, from what I gather. But I will send a bug report. I had totally forgotten about it, thank you nicnic :)

(February? What was I thinking! I meant May all the time.)

Eden,

Do you have multiple tabs open in firefox or are you always working out of the same window? I only ask becasue that can affect it.

It does sound like a bug, but nic is on trakc with something being cached. Have you tried clearing your cache? The instructions for how to clear the cache depned on what version of firefox you are running. ( I don't know why all these browsers change it so much) But to get instructions, first determine your version of firefox. (Up on the menu bar click on Help | About Firefox and that will tell you the version) then go to google and just search 'clear cache firefox version x.xx' with xx being the version you have

@ctown: Yes, I have multiple tabs in firefox and all on a single window.

I'll do what you say. I generally clear my caches weekly but I was sloppy last month and I had some adware sneaking in, too. Thank you very much.

I'll get a screen shot of my tabs if this happens again. I checked my last refreshing problem many times, and I wasn't being led by my muscle memory automatically so I am very sure about this one. (because it seems I was mistaken about JoC as stated below)

BUT @ nicnic: I am so sorry to have taken your time, being unable to see JoC was my mistake. It's resolved now and I am going to report a "false bug report" on it.

Thanks to everyone.

No worries Eden. Talking through these things sometimes points to the answer.

If you have multiple tabs of Sleuth open, I would definitely think this is probably why you are still seeing questions opened that you already asked. Because each tab is pointing to a different point in time in the game. While refreshing the pages should update it, stranger things have happened and honestly Sleuth always goes a little wonky for me when I have multiple sessions open.
