I recently found an awesome party/social game called "The Resistance" that my friends and I love to play. The premise is very similar to games like "mafia" and "werewolf"; you have a group of players, in which some of them are working against the group and have knowledge the others don't.

In "The Resistance", you are basically members of an underground organization known as "The Resistance" attempting to destroy the establishment. However, among you there are counter-agents, or "Imperial Spies" who are working to sabotage your efforts. The spies know who they are, as well as who else is a spy, but will for all intents and purposes appear to be working toward the goals of the Resistance.

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions". The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

Well it is a compelling argument. We've all been quick to say Jason was Resistance. But here's why:

We know if Jason is a spy, so is Illicit.

So when the mission went the first time with Me, Cek, Jason and Illicit and PASSED, personally, to me, it makes it highly unlikely that they are both spies. Wouldn't at least one of them have sabotaged the mission considering the spies were already up 1-0? That would have put us in the hole 2-0 and it would be very difficult to get out of that.

But that logic is a little faulty because there obviously was a spy amongst Jason and Illicit, and they failed the second one with the same group. BUT only ONE of them failed it. If they weren't talking in PMs or outside the game, what are the chances of that? Wouldn't at that point both of them vote FAIL?

Unless Illicit is really cunning and assumed Jason would fail it, so she passed it so as not to out both of them.

Either way, I think it's pretty obvious Illicit is a spy. Unless I am being waaaaaaaayyyyyyy naive about Cek.

But you are bringing Jason into question. And it is not outside the realm of possibility that Jason is a spy too. His voting behaviour has been weird. And his initial reaction to Special K after the failed mission was weird.

But I just attributed that all to Jason being a little weird in general ;-)

I will think about it and review what has happened so far.

Can anyone think of why both jason and illicit both passed the first mission and then only one of them failed the second one if they are both in fact spies?

On another note, I'm fairly certain Cek is NOT a spy considering he could have easily voted FAIL on the second mission and most of us would have blamed Jason or Illicit.

Illicit knows how to play the game, so would know to cover her (admittedly fine) ass ;)

Jason doesn't know how to play the game. And per your previous post, is weird. So he probably just picked one and went with it.

Unless both passed the first mission thinking the other would fail it. Then the second time around one decided to fail it and the other assumed it would fail and voted to pass it.

It just seems unlikely to me that things would have played out that way.

But maybe it isn't. Maybe Jason knew that if he was on another mission that failed he would be outed and voted pass to the second mission. And we all basically said that if the mission failed it meant Illicit was a spy. So she voted Pass too. She actually didn't even want the mission to go as she voted no on it.

And when the second mission went, we all basically said we knew Jason was cleared so he felt comfortable then voting FAIL, but Illicit voted PASS hoping Jason would fail it, but not out both of them.
