I recently found an awesome party/social game called "The Resistance" that my friends and I love to play. The premise is very similar to games like "mafia" and "werewolf"; you have a group of players, in which some of them are working against the group and have knowledge the others don't.

In "The Resistance", you are basically members of an underground organization known as "The Resistance" attempting to destroy the establishment. However, among you there are counter-agents, or "Imperial Spies" who are working to sabotage your efforts. The spies know who they are, as well as who else is a spy, but will for all intents and purposes appear to be working toward the goals of the Resistance.

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions". The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

(Gameplay in next post)

From the first mission analyzing I say that we know for sure 3 Resistance operatives and one spy: RO are nicnic (voted NO to the mission), Jason (proved by ability played) and myself (also voted NO to the mission, knowing the scams M. Lacrimosa pulled with that mission). :D The spy is Special K, for sure (Jason was obliged to vote SUCCESS, Molly was ''forced'' to vote SUCCESS, being in the SPOTLIGHT, the only player sabotaging being, logically Special K). Plus, she underlined in a previous post that JASON IS A FILTHY SPY, trying to shift the attention from her. That remains with 4 people which we have to figure out their intentions and 2 more spies to prove. The Resistance can afford only one more failed mission.

CLARIFICATION: There are 5 missions, so whichever "side" wins 3 missions first wins the game.

First mission is essentially factfinding. We were lucky with some of the special cards that came up that allowed us to see allegience and card played early. Stay the course!

Sorry I've been slacking. RL Stuff....

So first of all, I want to point out that it was obvious that the first mission was going to fail as soon as we saw the votes. If it was made up of three resistance members, the spies could have voted no and had an out by saying "I agree with Nic" and voted no. But they didn't. So it was obvious there was a spy and it would fail. The way things shook out, it was unlikely that Molly was a spy IMHO.

Remember Resistance members.... we don't need to vote YES to every mission proposal. We need to try to get as much info as we can and the only way to do that is to see how people vote on things and what they say on here.

That being said.... there is only one person I trust right now and that is Cekuray. Because we are all (except Illicit) new to this game, if he were bluffing and he's a spy, he's doing a magnificent job 5 minutes into his first time playing. Which I doubt.

There is one person I'm almost certain is a spy, and another, that I'm really convinced.

That being said, I don't think I'm going to say too much more because I don't want to let them know I may be onto them. I am going to make my next proposal, see how things shake out, and then post what I'm thinking.

Also Serges, one request. Can you post an "on deck" with each mission so we see who the next few people on the list to select missions are? I keep having to hunt back to find the order. Would be greatly indebted... :-)

Drumroll.......

My proposal for Mission 2 is: Nicnic, Cekuray, Jason Arends, and Illicit.

ATM, I'm not 100% sure I am going to vote yes on this mission.

Part of me wants to say we should vote it down to see how the votes fall and it may give us some info without getting another failed mission.

Part of me wants to vote yes, because I am on it and another person that I trust is on it, and if this mission goes and fails it will give us A LOT of information, possibly enough to know exactly who the spies are.

So I am on the fence and willing to listen to others' opinions on this matter before I cast my own vote.

Thoughts?
