My first experience with the paranormal was age twelve. One night while my sister and I were sleeping, we were awaken by footsteps, pacing back and forth through dried leaves outside our window. Thinking we had a peeping tom, I slipped to my parent’s room and told them. My brother who was in the adjacent room, went to check it out, but returned saying nobody was there, nor was there a leaf in sight. He further stated laughing, it was just our imaginations running wild. With Dad’s assurance we went to bed; however, I was too frightened to sleep. As I lay there in the darkness my sister gave out a terrifying scream. I just knew we were fixing to be murdered. Everybody in the house bolted to our room in their underwear. Now picture this, we had company spending the night, and there they stood too. Nobody seemed to notice as Dad flipped on the light. My sister had this look of horror on her pale face. She lay there in a trance, as Dad shook her back to her senses. Finally she cried out hysterically that a huge man in a cloaked hooded garment had floated across the room and started choking her. Just before she couldn’t breathe, she managed to scream and he vanished. After Dad assured her it was just a nightmare, she calmed down and everybody returned to bed. The next morning, the people that were spending the night with us, said that they got up around 3:00A.M., and discovered the front door standing wide open. Now the eerie thing about this was everyone had checked and rechecked that door before and after each incident. Was the open door a sign of the departure of the paranormal? I don’t know, but I do know it wasn’t my last experience.

LOL, and FYI, my spouse just told me, “Those folks are going to think you’re one weird duck.” Well I have one last tale to tell:-S *Wink, Wink*

Throughout my life my Dad told this story to his family and friends, about his encounter with a ghost as a young man. Because he was a religious person and didn’t put up with nonsense, I never doubted him.

One weekend, him and his buddy decided to go fishing and spend the night in a cabin that was known to be haunted. They arrived late that night and checked in with the owner, who advised them they could stay for free if they were brave enough. So being nonbelievers and tough guys, they accepted.

With lanterns in hand they reached the cabin, and after quick inspection, chose a bed in the living room, where they retired for their early morning fishing spree. Once asleep, Dad was awakened by footsteps plodding across the floor, which sounded like cowboy boots with spurs. Rising up on his elbows, he peered into the darkness, but couldn’t see anything. Then to his dismay he heard someone undoing their belt, as if disrobing. Thinking this person was fixing to get in bed with them, he nudges his buddy and whispers frantically in his ear “Wakeup, we have an intruder.” Quickly they lit their lanterns to investigate, but nobody was there and nothing out of the norm. Dad tried to convince his friend it really happened, but he just smirked, “Eph you had a nightmare man.”

Con't:

After falling back asleep, Dad was awakened again by his friend screaming, “Eph lets get the @@@???%%% out of here, I just heard our ghost.” As they gathered their fishing gear and things, he continued to explain what he heard. Shortly after they fell asleep, the intruder entered the cabin and opened the door to the adjoining room, where he took off his clothes. He knew this because he heard a belt unbuckle, and boots with spurs hit the floor with a heavy thud. He then heard someone sit down on the edge of a bed, with the mattress squeaking, he lay down and gave a sigh. Thinking a human had entered the cabin and went to bed, Dad’s buddy lit his lantern and checked it out but, the bed was untouched. Needless to say, their fishing trip came to an end.

PS: If you guys want me to quit, shut it up......zip it.......button it up......or, whatever you want to call it,..........I will put a stop to it and let this thread die and hopefully be forgotten>:D

Throughout my life i have had many experiences, and have gotten to the point where i can feel if something is not right. Here's one of my experiences:

I was about 16 at the time and i was staying the night at a friends house, which they ended up figuring out had a spirit in it. We would put recyclables in the kitchen at the side that was closer to their garage, soda cans, plastic bottles, things like that. Well I was walking through the kitchen to deposit a can when I felt a kind of pressure behind me, and i heard a footstep. I didn't feel threatened, but it made me stop. A second after stopping I felt someone blow on the back of my ear. I immediately jumped up and spun around and there was no one there. All I could do was laugh and say "you got me", and just continue my business. Not my first, or my scariest experience, but there it is.

That was interesting Alister, and thanks for sharing. Your story reminds me of a similar incident I had years ago while living in Houston, TX. Since we traveled all the time, we decided to move out and put everything in storage, buy a travel trailer and travel full time. One day while packing kitchen stuff, I walked out of the kitchen into the living room. Just as I entered, I felt something fly by my head and yank my hair, at which time the chimes hanging in the service window (an open window nook, or ledge, where I served food), start chiming and swinging back and forth. It was as if something flew through, tugged my hair. Like you felt the breathing on your neck, I felt a cool breeze on mine as it flew by. I quickly checked the front to see if it was open and a bird might have flown in, but it was closed. I checked everywhere, but never found an explanation.

Con't story..........

There were other incidents where the volume on stereo or television would turn up, or even turn on for no reason, however, we never felt threatened. In fact, we loved our home and the days spent there. We often played tennis on the court in our back yard, where our little Yorkshire terrier, spent hours chasing and retrieving our tennis balls. Sometimes he would carry two in his tiny mouth, and would run back to his blanket and add them to his collection. Years ago, when I first joined this game, I often mentioned Woodrow on the message boards. While I played this game, he would lie at my feet, and often barked at me for one reason or the other, LOL! A couple of years ago my little Woodrow passed away, and I miss my little buddy and furry son so. He left behind a son, and my grandson, Zechariah. Though he doesn’t lie at my feet like his daddy did, once in awhile he’ll come in here and fuss at me to pay him some attention. *Cheers*

Just thought I'd add this. If anybody has something wonderful to share that happened to you, please do. Not everything has to be of the paranormal, but experiences where you were protected from harm, or certain death. Perhaps an angel that you were unaware of. I've had such an experience and will share it later here.

Love, Deb

I'm going to keep this short and sweet. Years ago, as professional singers, we traveled full time. For a couple of years we lived in a travel trailer, and put everything in storage. When we weren’t on the road traveling, we parked our trailer behind a propane business. During that time we owned a new Lincoln Town car, and kept it loaded with our music ministry, such as our sound system, keyboard, bass guitar, CD’s, tapes, sound tracks, live television productions, other equipment and material. One evening upon returning home from work, we stopped to eat, and left our dog in the car, and the engine running to keep him cool because it was a hot day. On our way home we picked up $80 worth of dry cleaning, but decided to leave the clothes in the car until the next morning. We then went inside to read at the kitchen table, at which time someone knocked on the door. I opened it to find a young man standing there in new starched jeans, a white shirt, with fiery red hair, and teeth that seemed to glow when he spoke: “Madam, you are in danger, for your car is on fire.” Immediately my spouse jumped up and grabbed a small fire extinguisher nearby, but he said, “Sir, that won’t do the job, call 911.” While my husband dialed the Fire Department, I grabbed my purse and dog and ran out the door, but the guy was gone. Since 8ft flames were shooting out from the engine of the car, I didn’t think anything more about the young man, for my focus was on saving the contents of the car. As started to open the back door, a neighbor shoved me back and yelled, “Don’t open that, or you’ll be blown to kingdom come.” At this point, all I could do was ask God to spare our stuff in the trunk, and he did. Now, what’s amazing about this story is, we lived behind a propane business, our travel trailer and car was parked beside two propane trucks, and we had two propane tanks full on the front of our trailer, all of which could have blown us to smithereens or the entire block.

Also, not only was our Trailer, the Propane Business, and contents in our trunk spared, but our little dog that had been in our Town Car, a couple of hours earlier. For while we were eating in that resturant, the electrical system could have sparked and ignited and burned our little furry son alive, so we were very thankful that it happened when it did, and for the appearance of the unknown young man who came to our door.

I don’t know what happened to that young man, after he gave us his warning, but my spouse and I believe he was an Angel sent to protect us from harm. A human being would have stuck around to make sure we made it out safely, that the Fire Department arrived and put the fire out; and if nothing else stayed out of curiosty, but since he was an Angel, he already knew what the outcome was.
