Case Levels vs Skill Pts: Do you have a ratio(after n trials) in mind for each level?(is this a cat

Hi,

This is a question hard for me to state: Is there any mathematical formula as to what the skill pt per case is at a certain case level? Suppose that you've done n incredibly hard cases, after which you can no longer get any skill pt per case.

Is there a fixed number of cases that gets you 1 skill pt? like 10 inc. hard cases per pt? Or is it someting like "the limit of s.p(skill pt) as n(number of case for that level) goes to infinity approaches to zero?"?

It's getting harder and harder for me to get any pts. I realized that it's by the acquiring of an extra skill each time that you start doing good at that level. So I just don't think I'll be able to crack the stupendiously hard cases to get those skill points that'd earn me yet another skill. On the other hand, without any skill I cannot solve said cases. This is like a vicious circle, a catch 22?

Do we really have to subscribe for this thing and get into some agency so that we collaborate with other detectives during those cases that get as hard as they could get?

Hi Raci.

There is probably a formula, but I don't think anyone's ever worked it out and published it. I think rather than number of cases it's probably how many experience points you have to get before your next skill point. You've hit the point in the game at which the rate slows down, but it doesn't mean you won't be able to progress, even without joining an agency. Keep doing the cases which you can usually solve, and slowly the skill points will build up, and you can add skills to help you in the higher levels.

Think carefully about the order in which you acquire skills. Skills which help you to analyse evidence are very important (though if, for example, you managed to acquire the Banker as your New York PE contact you could put off buying Handwriting Analysis for a little while.) The other skills it's important to acquire early are those which suit the archetype of your character. Yours is Charming, so make sure you get your Sweet Talking and Rule Bending skills. Research is also very useful early on.

Getting that second contact will help. Also, remember, if in doubt, quit - guessing costs more than it's worth.

Happy Sleuthing, and feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

Thank you very much for your detailed answer,I thought I'd never get one and I subscribed 2 days ago. Fun to solve 12 cases a day anyway:) I'll be watching how easy the skill acquisition gets wrt xp level, thank you for the info.

I was very too impatient to quit a favor(I needed the money I'd be getting by selling gifts that repeat) and so was unable to get the PE contact first. I got the priest and meanwhile I had to acquire all smart skills so 10 pts into the bin, there.

Wish I had thought about that before.

Whether you get the WE or PE contact first is a matter of luck anyway, so you haven't really done anything wrong there. Sometimes people end up doing umpteen favours before getting a contact. So don't worry if it takes a while :)

Doing umpteen times umpteen favours in London, and still haven't gotten any PE contact. Hope I'll get one soon though...

Well from all I have read thus far about the contacts:

As far as I know, the 2nd contact is received after you get 150 000 xp.

So that means solving quite a number of cases for newbies like me. Therefore one should strive to get PE first.

And that takes very long if the game AI(game codes, whatever that is) keeps assigning you non-PE townsfolk.

You have to keep quitting their favor. There's no other way to make the game understand you want some other contact.

I guess even that is not the case. I guess it is very random and it is mathematically possible that you can quit cases and try forever to get a specific contact
