Well, we have a few members still lurking about. I'm thinking of implementing an arch villain hunt tournament, who would be interested in participating?

First things first - a big thanks to Night Queen for taking on the organisation for this. I am still game to take part and very much looking forward to the high jinx. But keep those pirates away from me!

Pumpkin King. There is plenty of time for you to amass over 100k points and be AI case eligible. You are more than 1/3 of the way there. You also have 2 contacts in NY already. Great going! Keep working on contacts in other cities. The more contacts, the better.

Once you get to 100k, you can find out where the Prince's ambassador is. Ask the townies, "ambassador", until one of them tells you where to find him. After talking with the ambassador, do an AI case for him. He will then give you permanent access to Shangri La. You can certainly wait until he is in NY or some other city you have both contacts in.

There are plenty of websites that tell you how to navigate Shangri La. Do be aware it typically takes a sleuth about 250k points or more to gain all 8 major contacts. That point tally should also get you about the right amount of skills.

Good luck to both you and Summer!

Oh goody, Sleuth shall have its villain hunt tournament.

However, despite the passive-aggressive nagging, I must point out that I had not promised a when, a whozit a howzit or a whatsit. The very wording of my post was "I'm thinking of implementing a villain hunt challenge." This is a discussion of the possibility of a tournament in the future, a headcount of interest, not a promise or an immediate plan of action. I did get very busy in real life, and my laptop did break. Hence my inability to log on.

Sleuths, enjoy your tournament. I'm withdrawing myself from any board or community activities from here on out. I'm not a mod, so I don't have to put up with passive-aggressive haranguing from certain sleuths everytime something immediately doesn't happen to my liking, or when heaven forbid real life doesn't mesh with my virtual one. I will save that treat for you all, because if I wanted to be nagged, scolded and prodded I would still live with my mother.

Enjoy. :)

I think we were a little confused over the intent of this thread. I had thought the intent was to implement an AVH tourney. I don't think anyone considered this thread to merely be a survey.

From what I read in the replies, others also seemed to believe a tournament was in the making. After waiting a month from your last login, Molly, it seemed the time was ripe to have such a contest.

If it helps, we can proceed with the tournament, and then the survey results can be tallied. In any case, the whole purpose of this is to have fun. So let's have fun.

Just so everyone knows. I and several others have put on avatars that are usually inappropriate for Sleuth Noir.

Caricatures of cartoon figures, monsters, animals, bags over one's face are not allowed. There are usually exceptions around Halloween. Also, the admins indicate by action that certain monsters are tolerated since two of them are sporting monster images.

In any case, it is not the intent to thwart Noir rules and guidelines. The dragon image I am sporting is simply a way of promoting this upcoming tournament for one of the contest categories for Old Dragons. After the tournament, my normal avatars will resume.

Others are sporting rabbit and jackalope images again in the spirit of the tournament. By agreement, their avatars will resume to normal after the contest as well.

If any of you decide to sport tournament-themed avatars, I am pretty sure it will be allowed only until this contest is over.

Happy Sleuthing!

I want to join as well... In the apprentice league of course. I will do my best to have all the necessary advantages (contacts and skills) till the start of the contest. Fun is of the essence, not the ranking, I suppose. Put my name there Queen!
