Have you just had your best day of Sleuthing ever? Solved your first AI case? Got your last contact? Picked up your first treasure? Found a spoon? Finally got into the Prince's Palace?*

This is the place to share the joy, have a 'woot' or two and be congratulated by your fellow Sleuths.

Or maybe you've just had to pay Shady enough cash to finance a small war. Or reached screaming point with the tailor in Delhi. Or been pirated twice in a row. Or fallen into a trap three times running. You can share the woe, too, and we'll commiserate. We've probably been there too.

Me? I'm just happy that after two days' worth of 'south of the race track' I've finally got out of Shanghai :)

(* If you don't get the references, never mind. You could ask someone. Or you could just wait and see what the world of Sleuth brings you further down the line...)

I solved 4 cases and a favour and earned only one skill point today... So yes, while I'm satisfied about my performance otherwise, I'm really miffed at how difficult it is to earn skill points as you solve more cases. Only one skill point for 5 correctly solved cases. At this rate, it'll be a bare MINIMUM of another 5 days before I can think of buying one more skill which I need.

Unfortunately, I wish I could say things will get easier, Lawliettine. (Neat name, by the way. ;-)

As you proceed up the ladder of Sleuthdom royalty, gaining more experience, skills, and know-how along the way, those skill points are only going to become more and more scarce. Eventually, you'll go roughly 40,000-50,000 exp. points between them when you get to be an expert detective. (I go about half a millenium between them at my present speed--been taking a bit of a holiday recently. ;-)

Anyway, moral of the story is, give it time. Take things slow and at a pace you can handle. You're doing wonderfully. You've already landed your first contact, you have most of a wardrobe put together without any assitance from the looks of things, and you're only a week old. Most of all, you're still in one piece! ;-D ;-D ;-D I wish I'd done half as well at a week as you're doing.

You really are doing spectacularly!!!! Keep up the great work!! ;-D

Thank you for the encouragement Breitkat :) It made me feel much much better. And thanks about the name too, it's inspired from one of my favourite fictional detectives... Yes I agree that as one advances in the game those precious skill points get increasingly elusive. As you said, there'll come a stage where an unsubscribed user has to go for days & solve all cases correctly before she gets one skill point. Which makes me wonder if there are detectives who've purchased all the skills available and how long it took them...

Anyhow, thanks for the words of encouragement! I like your name too ^_^

I solved my first incredibly hard level case today! And got a mother of pearl pair of opera glasses in return.

Beginner's luck indeed :)

Congratulations Lawliettine, that's wonderful. I'm envious though. I have over 100K experience and do AI cases, but still only get Hard level favours. Does anyone know if there's some logic to when you are offered more difficult level favours?

Honor Bright, as you solve the favors, they'll gradually increase in difficulty. If you aren't solving the favors, they'll stay lower level. Favors cap out at Incredibly Hard.

^ I think it has to do with the number of cases you have solved, not experience points. But an admin or old shoe would know for sure!

Cassidy, you are correct. Favor level has nothing to do with exp points. It has do to with favor cases solved.

Thank you cfm and Cassidy. I don't recall that many unsolved favours but I suppose that must be the reason. A bit shaming to solve AI cases but quit Hard level favours!
