What do you think? I'd say it was perfect to port onto smartphones.

oops... sorry, just had a brainphart... doesn't need porting... but still Noir as an iPhone/Android app... can it be done?

Because of the lightweight nature of Noir it works fine just using the browser. The only thing an app would do it open the browser to the log in page.

I used to access Noir on my Palm T|X's browser a million years ago during boring meetings so I know on a modern phone it should whizz along.

I have no idea of the programming ramifications of all this, but if it's possible, I'd say go for it, Admin. ;-)

I'm no expert so correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it just be a case of creating the app to rearrange the format on the the phone, without affecting the game as we know it? On the face of it, it seems a perfect format for Hypothetical's target audience, and it's a market that is growing really quickly... could bring new life (and cash!) into the game.

Brasco i think that's a great idea. I seldom have time to Sleuth now, but if it's on my iphone then at least i can visit the site while traveling on the train.

I am not really into Smartphones, but if anyone will help me, perhaps I can use my programming skill, to make Noir availiable on smartphones... that is, playsleuth2, as that is the only pages I have access to modify.

So, is it true that smartphones have a browser, like "internet explorer"? - the only challenge with Noir being the size of the screen? If so, can anyone tell me what size (in pixels?) the screen got?

What other limitations will a "smartphone app" have?

If you were to write into sleuth as well, like sending PM's, is there some part of the screen that will disappear into a "writing zone"?

What parts of Sleuth Noir will be most relevant to put up on a smartphone?

I use Noir on my iphone all the time to post on the boards (like now). Noir being a 'browser' game, works in most smart phone browsers already. Shades is a flash game so it doesn't work on the iphone. That's not an 'answer' more of what my experience is already.

I posted the idea of a sleuth on the message boards a long time ago while the whole app thing was still new. Maybe now's the time for this idea to take off, I don't think it would be too difficult.

Whatever happened to this thread? This is one helluva idea! I have to beat my pupils over the head to get them from playing app games in class, and then I have to do the same to my fellow teachers when class is over. "Everyone" is playing with smartphones nowadays, and noir would be perfect for it. But if there wasn't an app, if you'd have to use the browser on the smartphone nobody would know it was even there. But as an app it would be categorized and the "right" people, those that want to play games that challenge your brain and not just your fingertip-speed, would be able to find it...
