Attention ladies and gentlemen, at the request of several players, I am proud to announce the Sleuthville AVH Tournament 2011! *trumpets blare and streamers fly*

The format will be 16 detectives, randomly paired off into teams of two by a third party, to face one other team. For this competition, players going through Cairo will have a day taken off their totals. The winning team will be the one with the lowest combined number of days for hunt completion. Failed hunts will not count against you. You will not be disqualified. If you fail your hunt and would like to start another, you may, but the day count will start from the official start date of the round. Irene will be tracking progress using her new program, so this can be considered as further testing.

The rules:

You may:
-travel to Shangri La the night before, but NOT start the hunt
-use a travel kit
-use head of faction privileges
-use agencies and apartments to swap gear

You may not (enforced only by the honor code):
-use sidekick cases (for either clues or travel)
-enter second/third detectives, etc.

The winning team(s) from each round will go on to the next round until a winning team is determined. In the case of a tie, both teams will move on to compete in a triple threat pair matchup. The last team standing wins. Anyone who would like to join, please POST here. Participants will be gathered on a first-come, first-served basis. The first matches will start on Monday, April 25, 2011.

Each following round of the competition will start on the next Monday at 0:00 sleuth server time, unless one of the matches takes longer than expected. In that case things will be adjusted accordingly and you will be updated as soon as possible.

*Pokes his head into the arena after a looooooong hibernation*
*Strolls around seeing contestants running, sitting in exhaustion, coughing (get well soon Breit), beating their chests or jumping up and down in joy*
*Remembering the good ol' days and smiled*

Wow congratulations and good luck to those who made the first cut! Great goings! Most importantly, have fun!

*Disappears. Going back to his hibernation*

Hi all!

Just making sure we'll get a heads up when 2nd round starts so we can head to Shangra La the night before (and not use up cases).

Thanks!

SPECIAL thanks to those who sponsor these tourneys!!!!

Happy to report my own success. It appears as though my silent partner and I will around for the next round.

Arch Villain Caught!
The notorious criminal Kaihan "the Cleaner" Corleone was brought to justice by Sir Eduard Langston after a painstaking hunt in which the heroic detective successfully tracked the villain around the world.

Wow, a lot of the players ended up tying scores in the first round! That means a very interesting second round. Triple threat matches are quite confusing normally, but even more so now because we have rather large groups competing. The second round match-ups are as follows:

1. (Peter O' Neil and Breitkat) vs. (Vulkie3 and Heimlich VonVictor) vs. (MeadowFire and Cordelia Falco) vs. (Sir Eduard Langston and Sal Iva)

2. (Twin Goddesses) vs. (Andrew Corelli and Irene) vs. (Peach_Detects2 and Anikka)

Surprisingly only one team sent in a name...

Now, my detectives, how fast can you hunt? ;)

I didn't want to submit a team name, due to having failed already, but since we're in it for a 2nd round, Vulkie3 & I are going to be known as "The Pen is Mightier".

Anikka and I will be "Peachikkas."

I'd tell you what it means but it would be such a lengthy explanation. *grin*

Can you explain how the triple threat matchup works?

The indelible memory from what pundits are calling 'round one' of the Archvillain Hunt Tournament of 2011 is the candlelit vigil held my members of AVAPT outside the apartment of Detective Anikka. Surrounding a portrait of Victor "Matchstick" Inglethorpe, members sang 'For he's a jolly good Villain' and 'We shall not be moved' into the wee hours, until a deftly tossed size 11 high-heel interrupted proceedings. AVAPT Spokeswoman Baroness Magda Malatesta, screwing up her nose as she waved the offending footwear menacingly, stated 've shall suffer the err sling-backs and arrows of our tormentors, but ve shall not rest in our search for justice'.

It seems that while we were having this tournament, the US managed to take out the biggest real life Arch Villain. Seems only fitting.

Round 2 added. And two team names changed.
