Recently, there have been a number of horrendous natural disasters that have killed thousands of people, injured thousands more, and left millions homeless or otherwise affected. Chile, New Zealand, and most recently, Japan have all been hit with tremendous earthquakes.

Sleuth has always been a community of incredibly caring, compassionate people. Regardless of your faith or beliefs, please take a moment, and leave your thoughts or prayers here for the victims, both the departed who now rest in peace, and the survivors who continue to rebuild and struggle.

Thank you.

Breit, thank you for this thread. As I have watched images unfold via television/internet, my heart goes out to all of those affected and my prayers go up for them daily. I have been through natural disasters myself and suffered losses, but not of the magnitude that I have seen recently occurring around the world.

I agree that we should all remain involved and connected, sharing our resources and our compassion with those in need. It also makes me mindful of all that I have to be thankful for, and puts the current challenges in my life into perspective.

I know that there are those here in our own community who are affected by these tragedies, most recently the earthquake and tsunami in Japan (along with the continued dangers some are facing from possible radiation).

To all of those who have suffered injuries, loss of loved ones, who are struggling to clean up and rebuild, to face the enormous challenges that each day brings, please know that I care, am praying for you, and am looking for real ways in which I might be able to alleviate the problems and suffering, small though my contribution may be.

(Sorry for that terrible run-on sentence!! But that’s just the way I think :D )

Thank you both. Your words are inspiring, comforting, and heartening to all of us. Again, thank you. ;-)

I know there are many who think that they do not write well or express their thoughts or feelings well. Worse, they are worried or scared that others may judge them negatively for it. I'm telling all of you now. STOP. Your grammar or syntax really, really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
It doesn't matter HOW you express what you're feeling, only that you DO. So please, please, PLEASE, there are people who need to know that others care about what's happening to them. Even if you don't usually reply on the boards, please take a few seconds, and just let people know you care.

Again, thank you.
