You get two contacts in the game. One an "evidence" contact (shoemaker, tailor, barber, banker), and one an "alibi" contact (bartender, butcher, waiter, music teacher, fortune teller, priest).

The purpose of these contacts is they will become useful in your cases. You can ask your contacts as many questions as you want. For example, lets say you have a case with 2 or more hairs. You can go through your whole list of suspects till you find the two people who the hairs belong to, and your contact won't clam up.

The alibi contacts come in handy, because you make have 3 or more suspects claiming they were visiting that person during the murder. Because they are your contact they can answer all your alibi questions.

To get the contacts, you have to win 3 cases, and then go around town and ask and see who needs a "favor." After you complete a few favors for the same townsperson, they become your contact. The actual number of cases you have to do for them isn't very clear. I've seen 5-15 favors before getting the contact.

Good luck!!

Actually, I have found that it does not have to be more than one favor for the same person. It is completely random. I have another detective I was playing with (for those nights when all my cases are gone). I was very careful and kept track of each favor I did. I quit a few because I didn't want that contact, but the ones I actually did and completed, I counted. I did a total of 6 favors. I did 2 for the shoemaker, 1 for the tailor, 1 for the Fortune teller, 1 for the barber, and 1 for music teacher, who became my first contact. I was very suprised!
