Before I go on a villain hunt...

What tips can the more experienced players offer? I've looked through the threads and these are what I have seen:

* Set aside lots of money.
* Obtain contacts for each city.
* Get good equipment which you can travel around in.

Did I miss out any? Like, do I have to make space in my inventory for the rewards? Or can I "teleport" it into my agency?

By the way, is Cairo included in the Arch Villain Hunts? I haven't unlocked Cairo yet. Do I have the option of turning off the option of having Cairo in the AVH?

Thank you so much!

Money isn't a huge deal, one day of favors (3 at $4800 each) should bankroll a VH, then of course you replace that + when you retrieve your reward for catching the villian!

Just out of curiosity, has anyone travelled around doing AVH with a one-room apartment so they can change to a full set of smarts and still have a full set of interview clothes?
I know people talked about the idea when the AVH first came out but I don't think anyone did it 'cause of the costs...

Yes, Eudaemon from Hunter's did it on a regular basis. He said it worked very well. One room is not that expensive to move. I wouldn't recommend it for a four room though, lol.

hehehe
Actually it seems like smart clothes do not give anything at all concerning the evidences you reseve. I have conducted multiple experiments and it seems like no matter if i visit the crime scene with +20 smart or -10 smart equipments...i get exactly the same quality of evidences...so save your money and do not move the apartment (hehe also never choose a smart item from the prince as they are totally useless items)
On the other hand it seems that smart items do play a role in following a suspect

I believe that besides all the information the others have offered.
Be prepared to test your patience, as you will quit a lot of cases, you have to stay patient so that you are sure about what you are doing.
If you don't try to capture by chance, but know who to nab, you WILL get your Villain in the end.
Good luck! :-)

"you will get a lot of repeat clues, so don't get frustrated by it" -Lady Jas

I am on AVH now, and I see what you mean -_- I'm happy to nab the culprit, only to find that he/she gives a clue that I already have.

But I'm determined to catch this Sir Nero Marlowe guy! :)

Anyway, once I find out the conspiring townie, what do I do? Immediately go for the "capture villain" button under the Case tab? Or do I have to go to the townie first, tell him/her something... or anything else?

I find smarts play a big role in with the crime scene. Especially with specifics eg slim or heavy rather than footprint.
There is a luck factor with smarts though but on the whole, I have found the higher the smarts with a crime scene the better.

I agree that smarts do make a difference to the crime scene.

I once tried doing a couple of AVHs travelling around with an apartment so I could change gear. There was a small advantage, but not enough to make it worth the money.

You only need to have a smarts factor of about +1 or 2 to get 3 of the 4 pieces of evidence identified usually (least in my experience). Repeats can be annoying, yes, but they do offer you one thing that quits don't -- experience. I prefer them over quits any day of the week. Quits are just plain ol' exasperating (and yes, you will get those too, no way around that, sorry.)

Different cities offer different clues. Some cities are easier to figure out, some more challenging. One, in particular, takes some gray cells and patience to work through (sorry, 'twould be a spoiler to say more. ;-).

Keep up the good work. You're doing great. ;-D
