Finally out on my own. I had to get disowned to do it, to get my freedom, but here I am. In the slums of London, waiting tables for shillings while I try to solve some cases on the side.

Not the dream life I envisioned when I left New York and my parent’s watchful eyes. The champagne doesn’t flow freely and the parties are non-existent. At least for me.

When he walked in from the constant London rain, I noticed him right away. He’s tall. Over 6’3” at least. Being short, I notice the tall ones. The ones that tower over me and have a possibly dangerous advantage.

He took off his Rattlesnake Cowboy Hat and shook the water from it, removed his coat and sauntered over to the only corner table left in the place.

I glanced over at Mary, the night manager, tilted my head in his direction, letting her know that I’ve got him. She had a small smile on her face, almost smug in it’s knowledge.

“Evening sir, what can I get for you tonight?”

I called Terra at 4:00 am this morning.

"I have to take an agency member to the train station in about an hour. Would you like to go with me and then I can take you back to my place and make you some breakfast? I make a mean chocolate pancake."

"That'd be great! I would love to have breakfast with you."

He picked me up and we took his agency member to the train station. When we got back to his place, he actually sat me down at the table and proceeded to make me the best chocolate chip pancakes I've ever had.

For a second date, it wasn't half bad.

It's been a hectic week. Not much of a chance to talk to Terra. I have been able to stop by the diner for some pie and a cup of joe, but she's been so busy she can only say "hi" and smile before someone else needs to be waited on.

When I stop in tonight, there is an unusual lull. So I take no chances and get a quick word in.

"I was thinking we could go out again. Maybe this Wednesday? Mary said you had the day off. I know a great restaurant uptown."

"Wednesday sounds good. Alone time sounds really good." I give him a saucy wink and brush against him as I head back up to the counter.

When is he gonna kiss me? It's been days. This will be our third date. My mother always told me to let the man take the lead. That being to forward would say things about me. But then again, my mother also told me that I was no better than I had to be and I'd never amount to anything other than some two-bit corner floozy.

So maybe I'd be ignoring my mother in this case.

Of course, work conspired against us. So we had to move our date to Saturday night. I have seen her a couple times at the diner and spoken to her twice on the telephone. http://noir.playsleuth.com/map/cityhall/post.spy?id=32760

Not the best solution, but the best we could do with the circumstances.

So he thinks he can just walk away. Lucky for him my orders are to just to observe and report. "Don't engage." said the Boss.

I've been hanging out in corners and shadows so much latley I can write a new chapter in Stalking 101. Yeah ,I caught a good show at the local cinematograph .. but that was work.

He's keeping it low key. Playing Mr. Happy Homemaker. Trying to be the 'modest gentleman'. Not showing just how deep his pockets are.

His secrets.

No live productions or musicals. Even eating food that he would normally turn his nose up to. What's bugging me is his new found lady friend. She's appears a little too delighted and growing a little too close. The Boss really won't like this.

I wonder if he knows what really happened?

I took her to a litte place near the river. While we waited for our food to arrive, we started talking. Eventually it turned to marriage.

"One day I'd like to get married. Maybe even someday soon. If the right girl happened along and had long curly hair and pretty blue eyes." I winked at her, swallowing my mirth at her wide eyed face.

Was he serious? Marriage? He winked at me, but how do you tell if a guy is serious about these things?

"Marriage is good. I'd like to get married too. One day. If the right guy happened along. One that was tall and handsome." I turned his game back on him. But I didn't get the response I expected.

"You know, my birthday is in December. Christmas is always a fun time to get engaged." I was only partially serious. She was a great dame and I'd be lucky to keep her.

Now if only I could find out what Security wanted. I figure the Boss wants me followed. After that debacle in New York with Rachel, I knew the management was worried about me losing it again over a woman.

But this one was different. I couldn't see myself going into a downward destructive heroin induced spiral over this girl. This girl was just as interested in me as I was in her.
