I've made a few changes to the structure of mysteries today that aren't very obvious. I'll let you figure out most of them. A few important things though.

1) The harder level mysteries are probably a little tougher than before. If you find yourself having troubles, you might want to move down a level for awhile.

2) The number of suspects is no longer static on ANY difficulty level.

3) If townspeople / shopkeepers know anything about the case, and the person they know about isn't already visible to you, they will now become visible. You will not automatically know their motive though. This should make the non-physical evidence contacts more important than they used to be.

I'm still getting used to the new changes, they do seem to take up more time. Of course I loved the game before at this stage I can't say I'm that keen on them but it is early days.

I also dont really understand why it was necessary to change. game was not too easy.

my problem with point 2 is:
u need to ask everyone about motive now. townppl usually dont help cause i need them for alibis and evidence so not enough questions left.
if someone clammed on me b4, i could still count the fake vs. real alibis to know what this person will have. now if they clam on alibi question there is no way to be sure about them (when i find that the evidence belongs to them) so instead of accusing i need to quit.

there is a need to ask everyone everything now, its a lot.

i agree that dropping in favors level should be possible.

if there is possibility of any given number of suspect in any case and any given numbers of fakes and reals, what makes the differnt in levels? only how fast they clam? how many pieces of evidence?

Harder is not a bad idea butt doesn't take more skill to win now - just more time and more luck. Would not mind harder if it took more brains.

Seems like game has added two ways to make cases harder (quicker clam plus unpredictable suspect list) vs. one way to make it easier (townies can uncover suspects.)

Now since everyone clams more, the townie addition is pretty much useless at the higher levels since not enough questions even to check alibis before clams.

This is the first time, that I don't like to play this game. It's so boring, tedious, and at times even useless.

There is no challenge in clicking around so much, and before you get a chance to even do some thinking, hoping and guessing, the right people clammed before you got anywhere anyway.
And when they don't, the evidence came from your contact, and that's how you won the game. Or you stuck it in case files.

I have tried playing at 3 levels now, and it is all equally boring. If the equal amount of suspects was maintained, then I could say my previous favourite rediculous is now the most boring. More people.

I think Ben may have tried to introduce the zest that we had in the beginning, when you got people clamming on you. That was the BEST time, so it is nice of Ben to want to re-introduce that. Unfortunately, for many there are no clothes or skills they can still get. And it is unfortuately also those people that were playing stupendous/rediculous.

Just something I thought about.

Could it be the people that hardly ever played beyond incredibly like this change? If they want the game to get harder, then play a level higher.

Those that played behond rediculously don't?
And those got no where to go now but down.

I played mostly Stup cases and once in a while the rid. cases. (I hate having to quit a case)Now I am down to the really really hard cases. While I don't mind the change to the number of suspects, the added clamming is too much. Now, if there was new equipment.....that might make it worth while..... :) I like the number of suspect changes because it does make you think a bit more. You do not always have to have a full list to solve a case. You do have to pay attention to the evidence you gather to keep up with it, and this is more time consuming.

I wonder if I will get used to the changes and not feel so much like complaining, later on. Right now I feel like I am being awfully curmudgeonly.

One suggestion I can think of would be to create NEW harder levels where all these changes are in place, and take some of the changes back out of the earlier levels.

Another point about the numbers of suspects and the clamming is, if I have this straight, the suspects and the townspeople all clam sooner. But we need to ask them MORE questions - the suspects ALL about motive, and the townspeople about what they know about the case.

Since I wouldn't want to be asking the suspects about alibis before motives, and I don't want to be asking townspeople about what they know before I know how many alibis I have to check with them, doesn't this put me in a bind, where I can't do either thing first?

Oh, wait, I think I see a way....*goes off, still grumbling*

OK - I played it a little more and I think for daily play, dropping down a level makes things equivalent. But the favors are really hard - even with great skills and great gear. I had 3 suspects clam on an inc. hard favor (never happened before). Granted, asking the townies saved the case, since the first suspect clammed on the first question.

But I agree that favors should be dropped down a level, too. Or else, perhaps Ben finally had devised a way to make the treasure hunts last a very long time ;-)

I am paying attention to this thread and making more adjustments. So please keep it coming. However, keep in mind that it may take an adjustment in your strategies to maximise your effectiveness in the new setup.
