"Docket number 40410, the people of Maine vs. Sean Dart. One count witness intimidation, one count arson, one count attempted murder." The Bailiff called out.

"How does the defendant plead?" The judge asked, obviously bored.

"Not guilty your honor!" I called back, "I am innocent and I will prove it!"

"Your honor," the prosecutor said, "I object to Mr. Dart defending himself. He is not a lawyer and has absolutely no knowledge of the law."

"Overruled. I cannot prevent Mr. Dart from acting as his own counsel. Do the people have an opinion on bail?" the judge said.

"We request that Mr. Dart be held without bail in a high security facility," the prosecutor said with disdain, "he is a danger to society."

"That's ridiculous!" I shouted, "I am a decorated officer with an unblemished record!"

The prosecutor sighed, "Mr. Dart is not an officer. While working as a security guard, he claims to have seen a man breaking into the lab he was guarding. He claims to have chased the man out, but lost him. When the man was arrested a few days later, his girlfriend gave him an alibi. Mr. Dart decided that it was his civic duty to convince her to tell the truth. When she refused to answer the door, he set her house on fire so she would come out. Your honor, he fled to New York last time! Where will he go if you let him out this time?"

The judge shook his head. "Defendant is to be held without bail." he said as he banged his gavel.

"Your honor!" a voice called out, "I must be heard on an urgent matter concerning Mr. Dart!"
