Hi, I have a question. When I visited a townie asking suspect's whereabout, he/she replied, "Yeah, I think I know where the suspect would run off to in a situation like this, but I don't think he is the murderer. I'll see if I can talk him into coming out of hiding."

My question is, can we infer that the suspect was not guilty because the townie didn't think the suspect was the murderer?

I've actually had a suspect that I knew was guilty (no alibi + PE) that ran away when I came to accuse her. I wasn't too happy having to pay out $700 trying to get townies to give her up; if I hadn't sold my revolver to pay bribes I would have capped the bartender who said "I don't think she is the murderer." :D

I think the remarkable lack of perspicacity among the townies in this regard is just one example of why we're the detectives and they're not...
