Hi, I just started this game, and it's pretty fun. I've got a question about skills though - is it better to get many different types of skills or higher levels of the same skills? So, should I buy advanced interrogation, for example, or the base intimidation skill? Or advanced thread analysis versus simple hair analysis? And are the tough skills or the evidence skills more useful earlier on?

Interrogation works with suspects and Intimidation works with townspeople. So they are both good skills to have if you are following the tough path to prevent clamming. I would then stay away from the charming skills of Sweet Talking and Rule Bending. You don't need both.

I would go for the toughness skills before the evidence skills, personally.

And the townspeople aren't particularly useful, in my opinion, except with alibis and physical evidence. I wouldn't waste my questions asking the "do you know anything about this case" question unless I didn't need to know anything else from that townsperson.
