I guess I got started, with a copy of "The Boy's Sherlock Holmes", and then "Enclycopedia Brown", (anyone for a "garage agency"?). I don't really remember crossing paths with Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys. There were a lot of books that were titled like "The Mystery of the Deserted "Whatever", but always seemed to turn out an "innocent mystery" that just needed to be "explained".

i really like Dan Brown(DaVinci Code, Angels and Demons). he counts as a mystery writer, right? for detective stories, i like Robert B. Parker and Lawrence Block.

what about detective shows? ANGEL is a story about a PI, does that count?

"The Practice" was once awesome... not exactly a detective show...

Ah yes, but when they bring in William Shatner you know it must be the beginning of the end...or maybe the end of the end.

Columbo I thought always had the best cases. Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer for the hard boiled noir, and for an investigative reporter, Kolchak The Nightstalker with all these X-file type cases and an editor who would never believe him.

I like Dorothy Sayers (could you guess?) and Josephine Tey.

Hardy Boys were cool, Nancy Drew got on my nerves (too perfect kinda like barbie) But I LOVE Trixie Belden. Since I am 19 I would like everyone to know I read grownup books too. Any suggestions?
