I used to read Nancy Drew and Cam Jansen and Encyclopedia Brown when I was a kid. Mostly, since then, I've just watched lots of Christie mysteries on Mystery (tv show) or in movies or plays. If it's not in a form that I can digest in a couple hours, it loses the immediacy for me.
Anyway, I think Mystery is no longer being shown. Shame, really.

The Eyre Affair: is by Jasper Fforde. It is the first book in a series of equally excellent books Which as you may have noticed I really liked.

wireshaper: Next time I'm at Borders, I'll look it up.
Lomine: I've seen a coupla Mystery! shows - lately, they've featured Tony Hillerman books and a British detective in N. England around WWII. I miss Poirot, Brother Cadfael, and Heat of The Sun, though.

Oh, it's still on, just not showing Christie mysteries anymore? Huh, when I was younger they had Poirot on like every other episode.
I just remembered I once saw Three Blind Mice (think that was the title) as a live theater production. That was exciting. :D

Did a lookup on it - is it Mousetrap?
Last time I saw something like that, it was an interactive dinner theater thing. Bad idea with me in the audience - I drove one of the actors nuts.
Y'know that feeling when you've eaten too much cheesecake? Dan Brown overload - I now have all four books.

I was a huge ND fan as a kid. Never was even a little interested in Hardy Boys. I think it was the same reason, wrong plumbing. I have gone back and read several as a adult, and they are childish. But kids today still like them. Never had a fave as a kid but always wanted to read "till death do us part" but could never find it.
I feel guilty reading mysteries as a adult because I feel like I should be doing something else (like cleaning ;-)) but I like almost anyone. David Baldacci, mary Clark to name a few.

Wow... I was reading through the stuff I missed while I was away and stumbled upon this thread. I had no idea so many people read Encyclopedia Brown. As a matter of fact I wish I could find that Encyclopedia Brown mystery/cookbook. I'm also a major fan of Walter Mosley's Easy Rawlins series.

Has anyone read any of the Ann Bannon detective novels (50s pulp)? I feel that I should read them, just because they are important in the lesbian fiction cannon and more or less singlehandedly started off the lesbian detective genre...but I fear they will be really bad! I have such affection for the idea of them and their place in history that I sort of don't want to spoil it by reading them.

Oh my we have about 8 of the ND games. Love it! Do you have Blackmoor Manor? It's fun. Can't wait for next one :} Have you played Indiana Jones or Tombraider? They're cool. I'm working on Syberia right now, it's a lot like ND. At last level with it. Also playing Hobbit on Gamecube. That is too fun & I put my Syberia on hold until finish it. This is why I haven't been on here playing Sleuth much lately. Okay I admit I am a RPG junkie!
