Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.

Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

A certain crime is punishable if attempted; but not punishable if committed. What is the crime?

Hmmm two law riddles:

My guess to Sherlock's X-Y-Z riddle -
I would assume the volumes are American and deal with state laws. If the books are organized by states, then there would be no need for an X-Y-Z volume as there are no US States beginning with the letters X, Y, or Z.

As for Charlie's "punishable if attempted; but not punishable if committed" -
Suicide.

Another one...

A guy comes back home and witnesses a drama. The floor is wet and all covered with pieces of broken glass. At that moment he realizes that his two beloved roommates, Justin and Muriel, died. How's that?

Poor Justin and Muriel... They probably didn't even remember what they'd done to deserve such a terrible fate.

Here's a new riddle:

Inhuman and living, this guards and protects,
Every so often changing, always listening, never hearing.
It changes quite often, never really the same,
It has been apart of so many human games. What is it?
