Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.

Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

1)A man while looking at a photograph said, "Brothers and sisters have I none. That man's father is my father's son." Who was the person in the photograph?

2)What happened in 1961 that will not happen again for over 4000 years?

3)You are in a cold house in the winter. It is dark. You have one match. There is a candle and there is a wood burning stove. Which do you light first?

ooh, I know one!

You are a weary traveller wandering a lonely forest path. You come to a fork in your path. One road leads to certain death the other to...oh let's say the land of chocolate, compliments and backrubs. Good things. At the point where they split there is a house inhabited by twin sisters, one of whom ALWAYS lies, while the other ALWAYS tells the truth. Both of them know which path leads to which fate.

You have no idea which sister is which, but you knock on the door anyways. You have a chance to ask just one question of whomever answers, to help you pick which path to choose.

What is that question?

Close BadAss but not quite. The question is "Which path would your sister tell me to take?"

You would then do the opposite. The truthful sister would truthfully report that her sister would recommend the sucky evil death path. The lying sister would lie and say that her sister would recommend the same one. Either way, doing the opposite keeps you safe.

Here's a good one. A man walks into a lawyer's office and is invited to take a seat in the law office's library while he waits for his meeting. While he is there he browses the shelves and notices an odd set of law books there. It is a two volume set, the binding of the first volume indicates that it covers topics from A-M and the second volume indicates that it covers topics from N-W. There is no volume for X-Y-Z. However, when the man reads the title of the set, he understands why there should be no volume for X-Y-Z. Why?
