Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.

Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.

Nope Madame Giry. Intelligence or Sentient Life.

The gentleman I referred to is Terry Pratchett, who refers to his carnivourous plants on every book fly leaf he writes. The Jokers are the alien race that diguised themselves as a nonsentient species when they hid on "The Darkside of the Sun" in the book of the same name. The riddle is taken from that book where everyone is looking for the place they went.

Here is one more. What is unusual about this paragraph taken from "Gatsby"?


Gatsby was walking back from a visit down in Branton Hill's manufacturing district on a Saturday night. A busy day's traffic had had its noisy run; and with not many folks in sight, His Honor got along without having to stop to grasp a hand, or talk; for a mayor out of City Hall is a shining mark for any politician. And so, coming to Broadway, a booming bass drum and sounds of singing, told of a small Salvation Army unit carrying on amidst Broadway's night shopping crowds.
