Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.

Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

Sorry everyone, but I didn't word it right. Naners your answer could have worked for the way I worded it but that's not correct. Herre, I need to word it differently: >>> If you stand a ring up on it's side on a smooth surface, then lay a quarter (.25 cents) down flat on that smooth surface in front of the ring, how do you push that quarter through the ring? Remember the ring is small and the band solid.

Simple, you put the ring on your finger, then push the coin.

Turn a hairdryer on the ring to warm it up and cause it to expand large enough to permit the quarter to pass through.

No neither answer is right. In fact, this is a type of trick or question shown how it's done. If anyone wants the answer, just say so. Thanks!

OK, let me give another one which is neat, then I'll not post another until they're answered or I'm asked to give the answers. Here's another,

A man wanted to enter an exclusive club, but didn't know the password required. He waited by the door and listened. A club member knocked on the door and the doorman said, "twelve", and the member replied, "six", and was let in. A second member came to the door and the doorman said, "six", and the member replied, "three", and was let in. The man thought he had heard enough and walked up to the door and knocked. The doorman said, "ten", and the man replied, "five", but was not let in. What should he have said?

To Daru: Do you use a cocktail stick to push the quarter? ie. you pass one end of the stick through the ring and use it to push the quarter.

Here's one that too many think is a trick question and has no answer, but they are wrong. There IS a correct answer, so don't just guess, explain your choice - WHICH CAME FIRST, THE CHICKEN OR THE EGG?
