Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.

Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

And for all you great minds out there...
There are 5 houses in 5 different colors. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The owners drink a certain
type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand
of cigar, or drink the same beverage.

The question is: Who owns the fish?

HINTS:

The brit lives in the red house
The Swede keeps dogs as pets
The Dane drinks tea
The green house is on the left of the white house
The green homeowner drinks coffee
The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds
The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill
The man living in the center house drinks milk
The Norwegian lives in the first house
The man who smokes Blend lives next to the one who keeps cats
The man who keeps the horse lives next to the man who smokes
Dunhill
The owner who smokes Bluemaster drinks beer
The German smokes Prince
The Norwegian lives next to the blue house
The man who smokes Blend has a neighbor who drinks water

"What question can you never answer 'yes' to?"

My answer: On what date were you born?

on the 3 guys in the hotel. The $2 the bellhop kept has nothing to do with the $30 they originally spent. It is the difference between the $25 that the hotel kept and the $27 the men actually spent. Relating it back to the original $30 is a red herring.

Bryola...i mean a question that the answer could theoretically be yes to but for whatever reason someone couldnt actually say yes. the question "on what date where you born" and other similar ones like "what's the time?" dont count

Arne...i am impressed!

Casa Nova...well done!

Arne...
I have a better answer for the missing dollar and it goes like this:

The following night two friends check into the same motel. Once again the clerk charges them $30, or $15 per person. After the clerk remembers the total rate is only $25 he sends the bellhop upstairs with five $1 bills to pay the two friends back. The bellhop knows he got away with larceny once so he tries it again. But this time he pockets $3 and returns $2 to the hotel guests ($1 per guest). So each of the two guests got $1 back from their original $15. Therefore each paid $14 which is a total payment of $28 for the room. Now the bellhop has $3, the guests paid $28, for a total of $31....THERE'S THE MISSING DOLLAR!!!!
