Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.

Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

Rutiger went to a party and drank some of the punch. He then left early. Everyone else at the party who drank the same punch were poisoned by the punch and became very sick. No poison was added to the punch after Rutiger got his drink. Why did Rutiger not get sick?

Rutiger was already sick and contaminated the punch?

Well, finally something I can relate to. :) The punch was heavily spiked. As Rutiger only drank some of the punch, as the others partied too hard....they got alchohol poisoning.

Reda you are right!!!!!

Another one:
"Mr Shady?" inquired Shadow. "I am afraid I have some bad news for you. Your brother in law is dead and I have reason to believe he was murdered." "Oh no!" replied Shady. "I just saw Sam a couple of days ago. To tell you the truth though, I am not surprised. Sam did have a big mouth and quite a few enemies. As a matter of fact both of my sisters'husbands and Sam had a big fight over a business deal that turned sour. Then there was a friend of my brother's who loaned Sam a lot of money and never got it back. Another person is my wife's brother who just got out of jail. He accused Sam of framing him. He swore he would get even." As Shady rambled on about Sam's enemies, Shadow read him his rights and arrested him under the suspicion of murder. Why?

THis one is easy.

Shadow never said which brother in law, but Shady obviously knew.

There was a murder in Shady's house one winters day. Shadow, Shady's friend, was killed by a bullet. Shady decided to question the neighbors. One neighbor said, "I heard a gun shot being fired and went to investigate. I knocked on the door but nobody answered. So, I tried looking in one of the windows. I rubbed the frost off the window and saw Shadow dead."
On the spot, Shady arrested that neighbor. Why?

im with cfm on the shadow one from jstkdn.

for the second one: there couldnt be frost on the window outside so the guy is the murderer.

Shady arrested him because he only rubbed frost off one window. He must have known which room the body was in, which means he is the murderer.

cfmdec is right!!!!!
I am pretty sure I got the punch one right, at least points for creativity. :)

I am with reda on the frost one. Frost shows up on the inside.

Shadow surveyed the scene. Itzak Gusher, the famous oil tycoon, was found shot to death while sitting in his car. Shadow was puzzled by the fact he could not find a single trace of gunpowder anywhere inside the car. THis led Shadow to believe that Itzak has been murdered by someone outside of the car. The strange part is all the windows and doors were completely closed and locked. The only bullet holes found were on Itzak's body, since the car was not damaged, how did the assissin manage to kill him?

for jstkdn-it didnt say the car was locked from inside. so the killer could have killed him put him in the car and then lock it.
