Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.

Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

Is it fair if you knew the answer already and aren't guessing for the first time? Because a boy has TWO parents....

Correct.

New one...this is a pretty known one, so if you know it don't answer.

Shadow and his men searched the frozen tundra for escaped convict Sid Shady. Just as they were about to give up, one of Shadow's men spotted a body. Shady was found lying dead in the snow. There were notracks leading to or from the body. The cause of death was partially due to the unopened pack on his back. Shady did not die of thirst, hunger or cold. What was in Shady's pack that led to his death?

Bryola correct!!! Roberta, although already answered the answer was a minister, but a judge would be correct too.

Here is another:
It was a hot, muggy, overcast day. Shadow was waiting on the lawn when Sid Shady came out of his house wearing a pair of shorts and a wrist watch. "There was a robbery in town about two hours ago," said Shadow. "Apparently, the robber fits your description." Shady laughed as he laid back on the hood of his pickup truck. "This truck and I just returned from Pine Ridge about 10 minutes ago. That is over 500 kilometers away in case you didn't know. You can call the cousin I was visiting and he'll verify my story." Shadow looked at his watch and said, "It's 4 PM now, what time did you leave Pine Ridge?" Shady glanced at his watch and said "I guess it must have been about 7 AM." "You are obviously lying," replied Shadow. Why?

Another answer to the Lie Town/Truth Town one is to ask "What would the other guy say if I asked him the way to Lie Town?"

I have a book of those puzzles somewhere, and they get a lot more complicated than that.

And jstkdn - if he'd just finished a long trip on a hot day, his hood would fry him wearing shorts.

Here's something paraphrased from my old One Minute Mysteries:

Delia, a cellist with the local Philharmonic, was found dead in her mangled Ferrari last night. She appeared to be on her way to a nearby hospital. The 45 mm hole through her expensive black sheath dress explained why. Arthur, the self-proclaimed grease-monkey conductor, says she was not scheduled to play at all that day, and might not have shown up if she was. Bailey, the heartbroken, shy violinist, says they were planning on playing with the orchestra after meeting for lunch, but she never showed up. Cynthia, the aloof, upstaged pianist, mentions there was an informal rehearsal last night, and that they were meeting up for cocktails afterward, but never came.

Who killed Delia? What gave the culprit away?

Cynthia killed her. As Arthur said, she was not scheduled to play that day, so why would Delia be expected at the rehearsal at all?

Correct Lomine!!!

Shady was introducing his invetion to a 'Birds Unlimited' convention. He explained that he developed special insulation for high powered electrical lines. This insulation is guaranteed to save thousands of birds who unwittingly land on the lines and are electrocuted each year. Shady claimed that with all the birds saved, the annual mosquito problem would practically disappear. As Shady was appealing for donations, Captain Frank, an avid bird lovel, stood up and told Shady to peddle his line elsewhere. What was wrong with Shady's claim?
