Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.

Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

Marc and Bob go across together. Marc brings the boat back to Joe and Joe goes across. Bob takes the boat back to Marc and they then cross.

Bringing this one up again, as I won't post a new one until it is solved. :)

A man and his son were rock climbing on a particularly dangerous cliff when the slipped and fell. The man was killed, but the son lived and was rushed to the hospital. The old surgeon looked a the young man and declared, "I can't operate on this boy: he is my son." How could this be?

Is it fair if you knew the answer already and aren't guessing for the first time? Because a boy has TWO parents....

Correct.

New one...this is a pretty known one, so if you know it don't answer.

Shadow and his men searched the frozen tundra for escaped convict Sid Shady. Just as they were about to give up, one of Shadow's men spotted a body. Shady was found lying dead in the snow. There were notracks leading to or from the body. The cause of death was partially due to the unopened pack on his back. Shady did not die of thirst, hunger or cold. What was in Shady's pack that led to his death?

Bryola correct!!! Roberta, although already answered the answer was a minister, but a judge would be correct too.

Here is another:
It was a hot, muggy, overcast day. Shadow was waiting on the lawn when Sid Shady came out of his house wearing a pair of shorts and a wrist watch. "There was a robbery in town about two hours ago," said Shadow. "Apparently, the robber fits your description." Shady laughed as he laid back on the hood of his pickup truck. "This truck and I just returned from Pine Ridge about 10 minutes ago. That is over 500 kilometers away in case you didn't know. You can call the cousin I was visiting and he'll verify my story." Shadow looked at his watch and said, "It's 4 PM now, what time did you leave Pine Ridge?" Shady glanced at his watch and said "I guess it must have been about 7 AM." "You are obviously lying," replied Shadow. Why?
