Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.

Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

This is that riddle that if you ask 5 year olds they get it right away isn't it.

Jojo227:
I don't mean to nitpick but the riddle generally goes:
"The poor have it,
"The rich need it,
"Greater than God,
"More evil than Satan,
"And if you eat it, you die."

The answer is "Nothing"

Since I have that one in the collection, I probably shouldn't have answered it. Here's another one to keep it rolling.

What was the sight my eyes were giving,
When I saw the dead carrying the living?

Hey John Hale! Welcome to Sleuth! I like this idea of yours!

Here's one for you:
This guy living on the 20th floor in an apartment building got up early each morning to go to work in a downtown store. He always went into the elevator on the 20th floor and rode down to the entrance (1st floor). When he came home he always rode the elevator from the entrance and up to the 8th floor. He walked out of the elevator and walked the stairs up to his apartment on the 20th floor.
Why don't he take the elevator all the way up to his apartment?

For your riddle, if you mean dead, is it supposed to be a person?

Tzu Hsin, because he liked the exersize. :)

Correct, about the married 10 men riddle, she was a minister.

This is a pretty well known one. So anyone who knows it don't play.

A black dog stands in the middle of an intersection in a town painted black. None of the street lights are working due to a power failure caused by a local storm. A car with two broken headlights drives towards the dog but turns in time to avoid hitting him. How could the driver have seen the dog in time?

Because it isn't nighttime. The sun is out.
