Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.
Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

Is the answer --
311312111312?
I love riddles, however, I never know any.

Miss Kimberly -
if D_AZN_Z is thinking the way i think he is thinking, than i would say it is the answer. cuz the way i'm thinking, that is the answer i would say it was.

The answer to D_AZN_Z's riddle is this: 312211131221
But sushi kitty is right. The second-last line of D_AZN_Z's riddle should have been 13112221, which means the final answer should have been: 31131211131221.
The key to this riddle is to sound it out. You start with 1.
1
(One one)
11
(two ones)
21
(one two, one one)
1211
(one one, one two, two ones)
111221
And so forth.
Josie&Pussycats- I'm guessing the answer to yours was that the dentist was the only male in the room. If the lawyer and the doctor were women, their names were likely not "John".
Any more?

A coffin, and a splinter.
How about this one?
I'm the part of the bird that's not in the sky. I can swim in the ocean and yet remain dry. What am I?

That's fire, Josie. Something I am very familiar with, being an ex-volunteer firefighter and all.

To John Q.: A shadow!! Give me another!! And heres one for all:
It's more powerful than God.
It's more evil than the devil.
The poor have it.
The rich need it.
If you eat it, you'll die.
What am I?
It's actually very simple!!!
