Do you have what it takes to outlast all others? Do you think you can rise above the rest and stand out as the ultimate contender? Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to Survivor: Sleuthville!

10 Detectives enter, face off against each other in a different challenge every week, and the last left standing will be crowned Sleuth Noir Survivor! The winner will walk away with a one-year subscription to Sleuth Noir and bragging rights over the entire community. The rules are simple:

1. The first ten Detectives to post an entry will be entered and placed on two teams of five.

2. It's advisable to be subscribed. Some of the challenges may require travel, and if you can't participate, it's likely your team will vote you off at elimination. I won't bar anyone based on this, but it's your call.

3. The losing team at the end of each event will have to vote off one member. To do that each team member will submit a PM to me, which will remain anonymous with the name of the person he or she is voting for, and a short reason why. It can be as simple as-

Name: Heimlich VonVictor
Why: He didn't write any of the poem. It's no wonder we lost!

4. Challenges will be one week long and a winner will be announced at the end, in the event of a tie, a coin will be flipped.

5. Anyone may enter including mods, editors, or even Ben and Sunny themselves if they so choose.

6. The contest will begin when all ten detectives have entered and been placed on teams. It will conclude after nine weeks of elimination challenges.

That's all! Get out there and outwit, outplay, and outlast!

Concerning the Lenape's numbers. I have personally heard from both Riza Hawkeye and Joseph Zeo, before this challenge was even announced, that they would be benching themselves for RL reasons and didn't feel they would be able to contribute. Furthermore, as there will be one participant coming back, I don't see anything stopping topkebab, Valentina D'Angeli, and Kyle XY Rocks from actively contributing intros for the Comanche team.

One PM even insinuated that I designed these challenges with the Lenape tribe in mind for victory. These challenges were designed before the tribes were even formed, before I knew who was participating, and before the contest was even posted! How were teams decided? The person with the highest exp was paired with the person with the lowest exp, both were placed on Comanche. The person with the second highest exp was paired with the person with the second lowest exp, both were placed on Lenape. The person with the third highest exp was paired with the person the third lowest exp, both were placed on Comanche. So on and so forth.

If a junk intro is submitted, it will count for zero points. If three junk intros are submitted, not only will none of them count for points, but your team loses a point from a good intro. The intro I submitted was #1525, so all intros should be higher than that one in number.

As there seems to be widespread dissatisfaction over this, I will propose an alternative, which we can abide by if a majority of the participating tribe members agree to it. Otherwise, we will go with the original rules.

1. Every participating tribe member will submit up to five intros.
2. Every good quality intro will count for 1 point towards your tribe total.
3. Every poor quality intro will count for -1 points against your tribe total.
4. Intros will still be due at 19:00 Sleuth Time on November 6, 2009.
5. As there is a maximum of 15 intros per team, should there be a tie a winner will be determined by the toss of a coin.

Reward: The Golden Quill Immunity Award will be given to whomever a panel of judges determine has written the best quality introduction overall.

Please let me know which set of rules we would like to go with.

I think your original plan is just fine Heim, I had a few concerns but those have already been addressed and explained to me. I vote for the original rules from my seat on the bench! ;-)

Thanks for your vote ctown, but when I referred to participating tribe members, I meant participants who weren't benched for this challenge. This way each tribe has three votes. Sorry!

To clarify:

Set One (The Original Set):

~Write intros and submit them
~Write as many as you can
~Make sure the entry number is above #1525
~Bad/Uninteresting/Poor Quality intros count for 0 points. If a single detective accumulates three poor quality intros, a point will be deducted from his or her tribe's overall score. (Golden Diaper Award)
~Good quality/Interesting/Make you want to read them intros get one point each.
~THE INTROS DO NOT HAVE TO BE APPROVED!!!
~The contestant with the most good quality intros will receive the Golden Quill Immunity Award.

Set Two:

~Each participating member of the challenge will submit a total of five intros
~Make sure the entry number is above #1525
~THE INTROS DO NOT HAVE TO BE APPROVED!!!
~Each good quality intro will be given 1 point (+1)
~Each poor quality into will be deducted 1 point (-1)
~A panel of judges will decide which contestant has the highest quality into of the 30 intros submitted, and will receive The Golden Quill Immunity Award.
~In a tie, a coin will be flipped to determine the winner.

My vote goes for set 2.. To make it a bit fair for 'The Comanche" tribe...

As a benched member I cannot vote on this, but i'd just like to voice out what i think.

The first set of rules are better, since some members can contribute more and some less on intro writing. I definitely cannot participate this week (not even 'in the background', and i think it's the same for Riza), so I believe it will be pretty fair in terms of numbers (but i think with Kyle it's now 4 against 3?)

The concern for this challenge is that it will become a contest of writing as many (good) intros as possible, and hence another sleepless week for both tribes. If this is a contest on counting number, then there's no way to go around it, but if it is a contest more on the content (similar to the first challenge), then may i suggest that we can put a cap on the total number of intros submitted (say a total of 9-10; please cut us some slacks after the past week's challenge). If there is a tie in the end (after subtracting the bad ones), then the judges can make the call as to which set of intros are better. You can even cover up the name of the tribes for the judges to make the judgement more fair).

Anyhow, Heim, you're the one calling the shots or i'll just leave this to you. Too bad a writing challenge came up just as I have crazy RL workload, but that's alright, i am sure you have more wonderful challenges ahead for us, so I guess i shall get back to work and just cheer on my team.

Go Lenape Go!! *Pom-poms out*
