Do you have what it takes to outlast all others? Do you think you can rise above the rest and stand out as the ultimate contender? Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to Survivor: Sleuthville!

10 Detectives enter, face off against each other in a different challenge every week, and the last left standing will be crowned Sleuth Noir Survivor! The winner will walk away with a one-year subscription to Sleuth Noir and bragging rights over the entire community. The rules are simple:

1. The first ten Detectives to post an entry will be entered and placed on two teams of five.

2. It's advisable to be subscribed. Some of the challenges may require travel, and if you can't participate, it's likely your team will vote you off at elimination. I won't bar anyone based on this, but it's your call.

3. The losing team at the end of each event will have to vote off one member. To do that each team member will submit a PM to me, which will remain anonymous with the name of the person he or she is voting for, and a short reason why. It can be as simple as-

Name: Heimlich VonVictor
Why: He didn't write any of the poem. It's no wonder we lost!

4. Challenges will be one week long and a winner will be announced at the end, in the event of a tie, a coin will be flipped.

5. Anyone may enter including mods, editors, or even Ben and Sunny themselves if they so choose.

6. The contest will begin when all ten detectives have entered and been placed on teams. It will conclude after nine weeks of elimination challenges.

That's all! Get out there and outwit, outplay, and outlast!

Breit,

Thanks for your comments! I absolutely encourage implementation of the ideas used in this contest. When I chose the challenges, I picked many of them for the express purpose that it would benefit the Sleuth Noir community long term.

If you head on over to "Newbie Questions", you'll see that Anais Nin has not only started a Testimonials thread, as the Lenapes proposed, but it's been stickied and has received quite a response. Then over in Sleuth Talk, Irene expanded on the idea of a marketing team by proposing it to HLI.

The truth is that we have some of the most creative and brightest people that I have ever known competing in this contest. While only one will walk away with the prize at the end, the real winner is going to be the Sleuth Community, because of the contributions made by these members. Several of the contestants have said to me that the possibility of winning the prize at the end is really just a feather in their cap compared to being a part of something like this, and being able to contribute to the Sleuth Noir community in a big way.

That being said. Comments are absolutely welcome! Please, by all means if you like something then feel free to say it. If a great idea gets enough support, it's all the more reason it should be implemented.

Thanks again!

I just read up on this contest, and I think it is GREAT! I'm not involved in it, but I'm sure excited as I keep up on all of this. I watch Survivor on television, and I must say that I'm just as much into watching THIS Survivor, as I am on the television :) This was an awesome idea, Heimlich :)

Good luck to both tribes :)

Lenapes you have demonstrated the utmost finesse in recruiting sidekicks and have earned immunity for your team. Comanches, you came close, but it looks like I’ll see you at elimination again. Please PM me your vote and reasoning for the vote within 24 hours.

Irene stares at the stage, trying to realize what just happened.
First she is in kind of trance, then she starts sobbing, turning over to openly crying.
The Ghost comes close, and ask what is the problem, and Irene says that she always end up being very sad when someone have to loose. I get so sorry for all those who are not allowed to win. Why can't they all win? she asks. I don't want anyone to loose or be kicked out. It's so sad.
Woooooooooooohooooooo, wooooooohoooooooooo Irene sobs, and The Ghost joins in with some comforting words telling he cannot understand why humans are willing to join into something as destructive as competitions like this. It brings so much sorrow.
Woooooooohoooooo, woooooohoooo Irene says.
Woooooooohoooooo, woooooohoooo The Ghost joins in, trying to comfort her.

Joseph Zeo has not selected. As I will be traveling for most of the day and will likely not be back until about 3 hours before the next contest is posted, defeating the purpose of the reward challenge, I've flipped a coin to make a determination as to who will receive what information.

Lenapes will receive the clue & Comanches will find out the name of challenge #3.

Six sidekicks gained in a week! Wow! Great job everyone! And I can't even imagine all the new and never subscribed people who were contacted this week, either! Keep up the great work everyone!

This truly is helping the game, Heimlich- great idea!

Now... about that clue... *starts puzzling over it and getting wrinkles*

Many apologies, RL work was getting a bit crazy (5 meetings today), but anyhow I believe the clue is better and would've chosen that myself. Lenape, I have received the clue and believe you have as well.

Ctown once said "While we are here to win the challenge, lets also remember our goal to improve and enlarge the community." It is wise and put us in the right perspective. So, the biggest congratulations is to Sleuth Noir!!

Well girls and boys the votes have been tallied. Once again it wasn’t unanimous, but we have reached a majority. The main reasons that this person was voted off were a lack of communication with other tribe members and not being present at team meetings. That being said, at least one of your tribe mates felt very badly about voting for you. Valentina D'Angeli, after tallying up the votes we have decided you don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here. This one’s for you.

You wanted to quit in the beginning, but you didn’t. You hung in there and proved yourself to be a worthy competitor. Unfortunately, your time on the island has come to an end. Tina, the tribe has spoken.

CHALLENGE #3- Beg, Borrow, & Steal

So you’ve learned to bring newbies in and make them your sidekicks. Sounds like you’ve got everything all set don’t you? Wrong! Time to make a reputation for yourself! How else do you ever expect to get hired? Rumor has it that there are so many unsolved murders in Sleuthville that all you have to do is request a case and you’ll be on one! They’ve even taken to putting them in categories of difficulty. You heard right. Instead of solving the cases, the police have started ranking them on how hard they are to solve!

Your next challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to solve as many cases as you can within the next week. The team that solves the most combined cases will be the winner! Remember that not everyone is on equal footing when it comes to cases, and therein lays our title. It’s time to beg, borrow, and steal as many cases as you can to try to get to the top of the weekly high score board! Every participant is required to take a screenshot of their detective screen at the start of the challenge with the number of cases solved and send the screenshot to Sleuthnoirsurvivor@gmail.com

Instructions on taking a screenshot:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/tips/screenshot.mspx

When the challenge is finished, every participant will once again take a screenshot of their detective page with the number of solved cases and e-mail the image to the above address.

If you really don’t want to do this, that’s fine, but you must get on the weekly high score board in order for your cases to count. If you do not document your cases and do not get on the board, your weekly cases will be counted as 0.

I will be checking your numbers against the weekly high score board to keep everyone honest ;) While I don’t feel it will be a problem, if I find that you falsified your image (and I will find out) your cases will be counted as 0. This challenge will end at 19:00 on October 28, 2009.
