Do you have what it takes to outlast all others? Do you think you can rise above the rest and stand out as the ultimate contender? Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to Survivor: Sleuthville!

10 Detectives enter, face off against each other in a different challenge every week, and the last left standing will be crowned Sleuth Noir Survivor! The winner will walk away with a one-year subscription to Sleuth Noir and bragging rights over the entire community. The rules are simple:

1. The first ten Detectives to post an entry will be entered and placed on two teams of five.

2. It's advisable to be subscribed. Some of the challenges may require travel, and if you can't participate, it's likely your team will vote you off at elimination. I won't bar anyone based on this, but it's your call.

3. The losing team at the end of each event will have to vote off one member. To do that each team member will submit a PM to me, which will remain anonymous with the name of the person he or she is voting for, and a short reason why. It can be as simple as-

Name: Heimlich VonVictor
Why: He didn't write any of the poem. It's no wonder we lost!

4. Challenges will be one week long and a winner will be announced at the end, in the event of a tie, a coin will be flipped.

5. Anyone may enter including mods, editors, or even Ben and Sunny themselves if they so choose.

6. The contest will begin when all ten detectives have entered and been placed on teams. It will conclude after nine weeks of elimination challenges.

That's all! Get out there and outwit, outplay, and outlast!

Good question, ctown.

Next question?

Who is sitting out, you ask?

I guess I'll answer.

Eudaemon, thanks for reminding me, but see my post above yours. "No person may sit out twice in a row or, if this is not possible, no person may compete twice in a row."

Weeks 3 and 4 will be numbers based challenges as well, and as such will be subject to benching of players in the event of uneven teams. The rest of the challenges will not require team balancing.

Mr. Von Victor,

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but I'm a bit curious, and there doesn't appear to be anywhere else for us ordinary folks to leave comments about your contest.

I'll be the first to admit, I know absolutely bupkus about Survivor, and even less about all the intricacies involved here. But am I right in thinking that the 'winning' proposal is being implemented?? I'm somewhat curious if it's possible to use (at least parts) of both proposals?? While the one proposal may not have won, I think it's definitely got some good points to it. Why not use them, and make the winning one all that much better?

Also, if you don't want interruptions in the middle of your thread, it might be an idea to create a "Comments" one or something for that purpose.

Just a thought or two. ;-)

Good luck, everyone, with your future tasks!! There are 12 wonderful winners here!! ;-D

Breit,

Thanks for your comments! I absolutely encourage implementation of the ideas used in this contest. When I chose the challenges, I picked many of them for the express purpose that it would benefit the Sleuth Noir community long term.

If you head on over to "Newbie Questions", you'll see that Anais Nin has not only started a Testimonials thread, as the Lenapes proposed, but it's been stickied and has received quite a response. Then over in Sleuth Talk, Irene expanded on the idea of a marketing team by proposing it to HLI.

The truth is that we have some of the most creative and brightest people that I have ever known competing in this contest. While only one will walk away with the prize at the end, the real winner is going to be the Sleuth Community, because of the contributions made by these members. Several of the contestants have said to me that the possibility of winning the prize at the end is really just a feather in their cap compared to being a part of something like this, and being able to contribute to the Sleuth Noir community in a big way.

That being said. Comments are absolutely welcome! Please, by all means if you like something then feel free to say it. If a great idea gets enough support, it's all the more reason it should be implemented.

Thanks again!

I just read up on this contest, and I think it is GREAT! I'm not involved in it, but I'm sure excited as I keep up on all of this. I watch Survivor on television, and I must say that I'm just as much into watching THIS Survivor, as I am on the television :) This was an awesome idea, Heimlich :)

Good luck to both tribes :)

Just over one hour left and it's still anyone's game! Will it be the Comanches or the Lenapes? Find out after this!
