So I was on spring break one year visiting some friends in South Carolina. We went on a four hour boat tour outside of Charleston. I sat cross legged on the bow of the boat almost the entire time, wearing my shortest pair of shorts, but didn't put sunscreen on my legs. When I stood up, there was an obvious line of red vs. white diagonally on my legs. They looked like peppermint sticks, actually. And it HURT! I couldn't put a pair of jeans on at all! I had to either wear my short shorts, or sweatpants. When we got back home (near Chicago), it was SNOWING! So, while no one at school could see my legs, I could only wear sweatpants for a whole week. It was not much fun.

I had two bad ones .....one was when i was at my parents, when i still lived home, laying out by their pool. However, the pool wasnt open yet, so I grabbed a squirt bottle, which was originally a perfumed body spray bottle, and it had just a tad at the bottom. I figured that little bit wouldnt hurt me, so I filled it up with water, and sprayed myself all over. Water attracts the sun rays :)

well, after laying out, I was MAJOR burned , worse than normal because of that perfume spray in the bottle. I was walking like a zombie, and needless to say, I was wishing I was a man at that moment so I didnt have to wear a bra LOL

Another time, was at the "fake n bake" (tanning bed)....they had new bulbs in the bed, and failed to tell me so, i went the full 30 minutes. I did feel rather warm but, not really anymore than usual so didn thtink anything of it.

When I got out, my skin was so burned, it was bubbly. ack! they were very concerned! i didnt get any skin damage, thankfully....but im surprised i didnt!

those are my two stories :)

When I was in my early 20's I was at the racetrack (drag races, hehe) and after a while my brother-in-law told me my face was getting red, so he gave me his baseball hat. Unfortunately, it was too late.

I had sun poisoning, and my entire face was boiled red and swollen. Even my temples were swollen. I looked kinda catlike, actually - it was neat, but it HURT. You can't imagine how careful I've been all these years to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Once, I went to a waterpark on a school trip. I had put on sunscreen everywhere but neglected to put some on my back since I'm not really a contortionist (is that how you spell it?) and after seven hours of playing on the rides, my back was all red and hurt to touch! The next week, I had to sit up really straight to keep the fabric of my shirts from touching my back, or else it'd hurt like crazy!
