Place: Docks
Time: 11:30 p.m.
Weather: Freezing cold

"What the heck am I doing here?", the woman muttered under her breath. She let out a deep sigh, seeing something similar to fog coming out of her lips. It was a very cold night, indeed. The dark-haired, Italian-looking woman looked at her pocket watch.

"Late, as usual", she stated to herself, since she was alone. She had the habit of talking to herself. It helped her put ideas on the right places. And, as a bonus, helped her feel less lonely.

"You know, girl, you should never have agreed to meet him. But yet you did. Why? Because you're stupid."

She shook her head. No. It had nothing to do with stupidity. Or the feelings she had to admit she still had, partially. It was the box. The box with some of her things he still held with him. He had it, she needed it. That sounds like a pretty good reason for an encounter. An encounter, not a date, by the way. Dating time was over.

"You should be resting, Tina", she told herself. She usually gave herself pretty good advice. She never followed it, though. Another look at the watch. It reminded her. It had been a gift from him. She'd better return it. She let out a tired sigh. "I'll be here by ten. Yeah, right. When hell freezes over."

She was considering the idea of leaving when she heard footsteps. HIS footsteps, unmistakeable. She had to fight the temptation to jump on his neck with a tight hug, like before. She simply held out her hand and nodded. She didn't trust herself to speak right at the moment.

[P.S.: I don't have a big plan, and I know it's not perfect, but I'd love if someone joined. I promise I won't forget to check it out. lol]

(...)what had happened. "Not now", she said, when Zeo asked what was wrong.

By the time they entered the bar, her dark eyes laid on Vulkie. "You had it coming", she grinded through her teeth, showing no sympathy at all.

"But you guys want to discuss the plan. My plan is to find that bastard and shove his cigar down his throat. Then, I'll slit his throat as he did to my little sister. With or without your help."

She stopped talking and looked for Zeo's hand, holding it with her own ice cold right hand.

The words on the street was that Domino was from the South, a city in Costa Rica called Limon. Drugs, arms you name it, he deals in it. The reason for his appearance in the Big Apple was unknown though, although speculation around the underworld had it that he was looking for some important political document.

With what Zeo found out, he returned to Tricky Mister, only to find an ashen faced D'Angeli who refused to talk at first, and revealed about a dear deceased sibling who died under Domino's cold hand. D'Angeli's fingers were ice, Zeo grabbed hold of her and never wanted to let go. In secret he vowed to avenge her sister's death or he shall never rest.

"I know I deserved it,I betrayed you both" Vulkie said, looking down towards her lap. Vulkie knew she did an awful thing, but the money could come in handy. "The last thing I heard about Domino is that he was going back to Costa Rica, while his people search for this... Document..." Vulkie replied. Vulkie heard it from the man who beaten her almost to unconsciousness. "We can use the money to get some boat tickets, when the time is right..." Vulkie said.

Joseph was going to discover what this document was,by going to his ears and eyes of all the factions. Valentina went towards a friend's house to get some rest and mourn about her sister. And I stayed behind, with my Bloody Mary drink. I sipped from time to time.

And as time passed,I started to think about my adventures...

Valentina couldn't simply stay there, looking at Vulkie. No matter how much she wanted to be with Zeo, she had stuff to do. She apologized to him, saying she didn't feel well - perfectly understandable, after what had happened - and was heading to some house where she could rest during the night.

She walked, though the house was quite far away. Walking gave her time to think and cry for a while. After she got to the girl's house, she told her what had gone on, before taking a hot shower, refusing a meal and going to bed. She slept for nearly twenty-four hours, and woke up feeling strangely empty. The first thought in her mind was Zeo. She took the phone and called him.

As he picked up, she stayed silent for a while, before speaking, in a tired but warm voice.

"I need you, Joe. Where can we meet?"

To Zeo's relief, the next evening he finally received the long awaited call from D'Angeli. For a while he was afraid that his old partner was in trouble again. The energy and warmth in her voice was still a bit forced, but who wouldn't be after what had happened. They agreed to meet at the Music Hall, where they can talk in privacy. Angela Caban the music teacher was their long time friend.

Zeo was there first. Hearing the sound of piano being played, especially the amateur notes from children, was somehow therapeutic. He just hoped Tina would feel the same way. Zeo took a quiet practice room from Angela Caban and started playing. He knew nothing but Jazz and Blues. Today, he was in the mood for Blues. Figures.

Zeo lost track of time in front of the piano keyboard. When he finally turn around he realized D'Angeli was already in the room. The frame of her eyes was red. She gave Zeo a hug as if he was her deceased sister. Zeo, being his usual self, didn't know what the hug was for, but he felt warm all over.

"I found out what Domino was here for." Zeo said while D'Angeli was still hugging him.
D'Angeli pushed back, gave him an expression Zeo didn't understand, and asked him to continue.
"We all hear about the violent rebels trying to overthrow the current Cuban government." Zeo said.
"Yes, and the U.S. Ambassador is requesting U.S. military intervention right now, that was in the radio."
"According to my sources, President Roosevelt was ordering over 2 dozen warships to Cuba and Key West, alerting the United States Marines, and bombers for use if necessary!"
"What does that have to do with Domino?" D'Angeli queried.

"Domino is a trader, and what's better business than arm deals during war time? Costa Rica may be just a grower of coffee beans and banana, but the country have good relationship with Cuba. If Domino get his hands on military information, say even a shipment of guns or the location of the warships, do you know how much that's worth? And if the rebels do win over the country, Domino would have all the political leverage he could ever imagine!"

D'Angeli was quiet, but her mind was churning at the speed of sound.

"My contacts from the government did mention about a "key" to U.S. classified information in regards to Cuban intelligence. You suddenly showed up with a South American looking sculpture, and Domino was all over you... I might be dense in human relationships, Tina, but I'm good at math."

Zeo also wondered how D'Angeli got a hold of the wooden sculpture two years ago, but to him Tina's safety was his utmost concern. No just Domino, any arms or intelligence dealers would be interested in getting their hands on what Tina had, if Zeo's calculation was correct. Tina's life was in great danger.

Valentina had finally came up with the courage to call Zeo and talk to him. She agreed to meet him at the Music Hall, trying to ignore all the memories that place brought her, both good and bad. Putting aside the memories, she heard what Zeo had to say, her mind capturing about half of all that. She was still in shock, after all.

After a while, though, her mind 'woke up' and started paying attention and drawing conclusions. She heard Zeo's words in silence till he stopped talking. A faint smile appeared on her lips.

"Yeah, I know. You're the smart one here. I just... do things. You think. Maybe that's why we were such great partners and such terrible... friends."

She used the word friends to replace another word in her mind. She wasn't in the right mood to deal with three problems at once. After a while, she looked deep into Zeo's eyes.

"If he wants me, darling, I wouldn't dream of disappointing him. But I think he'll get much more of me than he ever dreamt of."

She took her pistol out of her pocket and showed it to him. It had been a gift from Zeo, and she only used it when she was determined to kill.

"Remember her?"

"Yes I do." Zeo smiled. The handy silver pistol Zeo gave D'Angeli years ago looked as good as new, but Zeo knew better that the small firearm had her share of the action in the past. As if on cue, the upright piano took in a bullet; someone had fired through the door and into the box of the instrument where Zeo had been sitting just a moment back.

The two old partners ducked immediately. More bullets rained into the small studio. D'Angeli rolled towards the door and fired two shots in the direction where the bullets came from. They heard a heavy thud of someone falling down from the other side. D'Angeli opened the door and fired two more shots just in case.

She was about to exit when Zeo pulled her in. "There might be more people waiting for us out there." Zeo nodded towards the window. "Let's try the 'alternative'." D'Angeli smiled. Zeo opened the window and a sniper from the roof shot Zeo in the shoulder.

"Joseph!" D'Angeli exclaimed and pulled Zeo down.
"I'm alright." Zeo winced. He pressed onto his shoulder; it was bleeding heavily. "Sorry... guess we have to get out... the 'traditional' way..." He took out his revolver with his good arm.

D'Angeli and Zeo returned to the main music hall. Children held down by the adults were sobbing in fear from the gun fight. Some were hiding under the pianos. No one else was in sight. The two partners dodged from piano to piano towards the exit. They knew the studio would be a safe place again as soon as they leave.

Suddenly flashes from a tommy gun destroyed a grand piano next to them. Noise from the gun and the broken cords and the crying children screamed in the air. They dashed for the exit as D'Angeli fired in the direction of the tommy gun. The man hiding in the corner with the tommy fell. D'Angeli refilled her pistol and the two exited from the music hall.
