i think the basement should be rentable to any subscriber without having to open an agency. this would allow inexpensive storage for 4 extra items and might stop the increase in agency setup that might be developing in order to get someplace to store extra items since the apartments and their furnishings are so expensive. with fewer agencies opened just for access for storage the true agencies might obtain these detectives.

Ooooh...so that's why at home it don't shake! I should've taken the coin machine with me also.

Yeah, Joey. Always remember to steal the object that contains the money too :-P Am I the only one that knows how a vibrating bed works? I feel like 'the professor of sleazy knowledge' in here at the moment...

I say if you want a vibrating bed either get a place near the train tracks or give a nickel to the drip in the efficiency room across from yours to shake your bed for you. Much cheaper than having to constantly refill the coin operated beds and you don't have to wake up to start 'er up again. Although I think that you may have to worry about your stash with the drip...

Alternatively you could stick burs under all the horses at the stable in Shanghai and sleep in the loft, although people might get testy if you mess around with the horse they had money on...

Wouldn't want to mess with Squirrel's horse, he's whiskers are a little frightening.

Umm, just mildly curious here, but are you referring to Squirrel's whiskers, or the horse's (They do have 'em, y'know ;-)??

It depends on which one is bearing down on me chomping on the bit.

Briefly back on topic (what???), the original post seemed to be suggesting that agencies are being set up just in order to store items, and that these agencies are recruiting detectives who would would otherwise join the 'true' agencies.

Yes, my agency was set up in order to store my gear. It was nothing to do with cost: changing in and out of smarts just takes more time in an apartment. But the whole point was that I don't have the time to participate properly in a treasure-hunting agency, so I decided to go the 'lone wolf' route for a while. Therefore when I get requests to join the agency (which does happen but not often), I say I'm not recruiting and point people at the recruiting board.

So I'd be surprised if people who set up agencies for storage then recruited new detectives. But then hey, if they did, why not? Might even turn into one of enrico's 'true' agencies...

True...it don't make much sense to have a storage full of people. And if a storage gets full of people, it seizes to be a storage...well...unless they are spawns of the main one.

One thing I don't get though: what's with this fobia that there are too many agencyes in Sleuth? If a player wants active team mates, he can go into an active agency. The agencyes that are simple storages don't take the active players away, but simply serve the needs of one.
