What's a Tough Guy Like Me to Wear?

What's the deal?

The vast majority of my favor cases give me charming or smart gear. The fence at Lucy's Cabaret has charming and smart gear and the factions that I was able to access in New York had charming and smart gear. I'm finally in with the Green Hand in London and they have some Tough Gear, but all in all it seems it's pretty hard for a tough guy to find decent duds around here.

Anyone have any advice?

Big Lucy's stuff changes with every time you go there. There is often a Rattlesnake Coat (+4 tough, I think??), for sale there. And as you get higher up the favor ladder, the equipment does get a bit better. The LCN has a White Tuxedo Jacket (+5, I think) that might interest you, but it's not cheap. All in all, your best bet might be to follow VS's advice and join an agency, where you can do some trading (or buy a Possum Bomber Jacket off somebody). Anyway, those are some possibilities for you. Hope they help! ;-)

Thanks for the replies, and thanks for the information on Big Lucy's. I wondered if it changed but was a little reluctant to shell out $500.00 and it didn't. :)

I don't really mind being clothes poor except that it makes it harder to solve cases as your suspects claim easier.

I'd like to check out the agency life, but for the moment I'm enjoying just being a single guy.

Just keep trying. I was working on charm and kept getting offered massive amounts of tough gear for a while. There is a list of all the equipment and where it is available on sleuthtips.com.

you could also ask the community if someone has something they want to sell. i know that Wish has done that in the past, even for expensive items.

Doesn't it have to be a subbed member in an agency and then the transfer is done through the agency? I thought that was the only way to transfer things to and from each other Luc?

While it is true that you can only transfer things by using the locker room in an agency, Lt. Theo is subbed, and could easily hook up with an agency long enough to buy or be given a piece of equipment. It's if he was unsubbed that would prevent it.

I'm going to slug it out for a while as Lolita suggested and see if things make a turn in my favors for the tough gear, but if it doesn't I'll post back here about buying some equipment.

You all are sure a helpful lot. :)

I give you credit Theo. There are a bunch of agencies that I am sure would be willing to help, but you wanting to get things on your own will only add to your enjoyment of the game. God luck to you and keep asking questions! We will only give so much away! ;-)

Another thing that you should keep in mind is the fact that Agencies provide extra status bonus that can help a lot at the beginning. So even if you stay alone for the time being it may be a good idea for you (if you can afford it!) to rent an agency
