I have no idea if this is the right place to post this and I also haven't checked whether it has been said before but here goes anyway.

I think it would be so much easier if we could search within a thread for a keyword. I did a search for info on equipment and I got masses of Detective Agency Recruiting. I knew the answer to my question wouldn't be there. If the search engine appeared at the top of each thread instead of only on the whole list of message board it would help a great deal.

And my other gripe at the moment after having to trawl through pages and pages of information that I either already know or don't need to know yet, is the amount of "This reply has been deleted by a Moderator".

Couldn't you just delete the post entirely. Obviously they were either being unhelpful, rude or double posting, so why do we need to see that they posted something. The Welcome Newbies has pages where there are maybe 2 or 3 posts and a whole screen of "deleted". What's the point. Delete them entirely please!

Cheers, Lolita Marinez

Wow. *Note to self. They can't see you smile on a message board.

I wasn't implying that anyone was or wasn't doing a good job. I was asking a question.

I did feel a little reprimanded by Cordelia and I felt that she had taken my questions as an attack on the moderators so I apologized. I know that most moderators are volunteers and I did say "please" in my original post so I guess I was a little miffed that she felt I needed to be reprimanded. I do try to be polite most of the time but I must also remember that many people interpret the written word differently than it's original intent.

I meant no offense to anyone. Thankyou for taking the time to respond and answer my questions. I do appreciate the effort.

Thanks for the apology, Lolita. I'm sure the Mods appreciate your sincerity. They tend to get a bad rap a lot of the time. ;-)

Yes, it's been noted for quite a while now that many of our Staff are no longer active here on Noir, for whatever reason. Many people here do feel that there prob'ly does need to be some changes, but the only ones who can do that are Admin. Up til now, again, for whatever reason, they've opted not to.

One way or the other, it makes you appreciate the ones who are here even more.... (Three macadamias to Squirrel!! ;-D )

Sorry if you felt that was a reprimand, Lolita. It wasn't meant to be - just a reminder. Also, it wasn't just your post I was replying to.

Like you say, the perils of the written word!

I think I trawled for the first time ever on Saturday night-definitely dangerous. The community isnt very active now so I dont think we need a lot of mods but we do have many good candidates waiting who deserve promotions.

Lolita, in regard of finding out info about equipment and other features of the game more easilly, I think you should take a look at some of the agencyes sites. You can find them listed in City Hall - Sleuth Community Sites. Also, asking experienced players in PMs works very well when you have a specific question. Putting aside the whole fuss in the stage's board section, which I belive it was the first one you stumbled upon (thus getting maybe a distorted impression about the community), you'll find that people around here are very nice and helpful.

In regard of the deleted posts, the question has already been given the answer.

Regarding the subject of the game's improvements, it sure could use some, but I myself find that its current shape is...liveble with, so to put it. What I'm trying to say is that this game is so unique on the market that its qualities fully compensate the sometimes slightly rudimentary shape of some forum functions. It looks as if the programmers have focused fully on the important parts and left the secondary ones a bit unpolished. Sometimes it can be a bit annoying, but I find that it's acceptable.

And now, in the end, a trully personal opinion generally regarding any question marks about new game features, improvements and anything of this kind: considering the creation and constant efforts put in developing Shades of Mistery, I seriously wonder myself for how long Noir will manage to maintain its active status. It is clear to me that the price of the subscriptions cannot cover more than the server's maintainance costs and probably some taxes. I fear there will come a point where Noir will become economically unjustified, thus...as a conclusion, I feel we should all enjoy it while it lasts.

Thankyou Cordelia, apology accepted. I really did appreciate the answer to my question and I see now that you point it out, you did have very good reason for your remark. ;-)

Joey "Bulldog" Bane, I agree with you about the game being unique and I personally think it is excellent. I am totally addicted. I came here from a link in S0M and I have played here a lot more than I play S0M now.

I really do hope you are wrong about the limited life span of Noir. I only found it a month ago. I still have heaps to explore and learn. I would subscribe if it was just me to consider, but I have a family and also being Australian adds an extra 30% - 40% on to the cost with exchange rates. I hope in the near future I can find the extra money to subscribe but until then I will keep playing and learning and I will tell my friends about what a great fun site it is.
