Leopold Parr walked as fast as he possibly could in and around Victoria Station. The young officer had anticipated the arrival of his younger sister with great trepidation. He finally saw her waiting for him in a mauve overcoat and a large purple hat through the window of one of the station’s waiting rooms.

When Miss Violet Parr got up and walked out of the waiting room, Leopold’s walk turned into a sprint as he finally reached Violet and hugged her tightly in a collision of joy.

Violet pushed hard against his force not to fall on her back. She kissed him on the cheek and whispered. “Really Leopold, this show of affection can do with some self-restraint!”

“Two years in France…” Leopold replied, “…haven’t changed you a bit!”

“I know better than to let the French freely mold me to their pleasing!” Violet Parr huffed in a mock of indignation. Then she turned her gaze to a young girl standing next to her looking curiously and cautiously at Leopold. “…but I am afraid I can’t say the same about young Isabella.”

Leopold looked at his young niece in utter astonishment: Isabella was a pretty little thing with curiously mixed features. At such a young age, her skin looked like a yellowish tanned shade of ivory. She had long light brown hair, hazel eyes and a serious look of disapproval on her face.

Quietly the two followed the criminals on foot until they reached the door. Zeo aimed and shot Bergen in the arm. Stinger returned fire with her tommy gun, Garrett and Zeo dodged behind some cars. Zeo crawled underneath a car and aimed at Stinger's leg. It was a hit. The women fell, still firing bullets into the sky. Garrett then shot Stinger in the head, bulls eye. Just then, an elegant lady in a purple nightgown ran out and saw us.

"Clift! Our daughter is missing!" The lady was in shock.

Bergen jumped out and grabbed the lady, pointing a gun at her temple. "Nobody moves!" He bellowed, then he spoke softly to the lady, "Now, Ms. Violet, take me to your other daughter." The lady took his hand and flipped Bergen over like an omelet. Both Garrett and Zeo pointed their guns at him.

"You’re messing with the wrong woman!" Garrett smirked, then he turned deadly, "Now, where are you hiding Victoria?"

Bergen finally gave in after harsh interrogations too gory to be described. Mak promised to watch the other kids with her life while Violet, Clift and Joseph ‘escorted’ Bergen back to his hide out.

When they arrived with police back up, the house was already burning. After the fire settled down, they found burnt bodies; most goons have died, but to everyone's relieve, there was no child's body amongst the corpses.

The cops searched for Victoria for days to no avail. Garrett held a silent grudge against Zeo for deterring him from saving his daughter, but at the same time was grateful for his help in stopping Bergen from taking Isabella. His feeling was mixed. Zeo decided to return Gregory's body to his family in New York. Leopold and Clift bid Joseph farewell in silence.

As Joseph stood on the dock of the ocean liner, watching England disappeared in the horizon, he was sadden by the fact that in his line of work, sudden death was inevitable on either side of the ocean. He stubbed out his cigarette and returned to his cabin.

Meanwhile, back at Violet's apartment, Makensie told Isabella and Cody to go play, while she gathered her thoughts about poor Victoria.

This wasn't like her to sit back in the shadows, being a babysitter, she WAS an experienced detective after all, but, this particular time, she figured it was the best thing. For the time being, anyway.

"Oh, why haven't I received any word!", Makensie said, with worry.

Cody walks up, tugging on her shirt tail, saying, "Mommy, I have to go to the bathroom"

"Well go to the bathroom, Cody", she said, with impatience that wasn't intended.

She sighed, smiled, then took him to the bathroom. He still felt shy being here, and felt he had to ask to do anything.

After Cody went restroom, he ran off to continue playing with Isabella.

Makensie was in thought, as a knock came to the door.

Frowning, she wondered, 'Who could this be?' Walking to the door, she opened to find her dear friend,Ms Cevasco standing there.

"Well, Ms Cevasco, dear, what are you doing here?", Makensie said, with surprise.

She rolled her eyes, and said, "I heard all what was going on, and I just know how you are when it comes to emergency situations, so, it is Ms C to the rescue. Again"

Makensie chuckles, and said, "Thank you very much, but, ummm, how did you know all what was going on here, with Victoria?"

Walking past her, Ms Cevaso said, "News travels fast around here. Some gentleman told me, although, I don't quite know why. At any rate, I'm glad he did. Now, I am here, and you can do whatever it is you need to do"

Makensie hugged her friend, and said, "Thank you, Ms C! You are such a dear"

"I know, I know...I'm told that all the time. Now get out of here. Please!", she said, laughing.

Makensie went to give Cody a kiss, and a hug and explained that Ms Cevasco was here to watch over them.

"Yayyyy! Ms Cevasco!!", he said, happily.

She smiled, and also gave Isabella a kiss on the forehead, as she walked out.

As she walked to the door, she turned to Ms Cevasco with seriousness.

"Ms C, this is very important. You MUST watch Cody, and Isabella VERY closely. Protect them with everything you have in you. It is a very crucial time, right now. Please.....do not let them out of your sight. Do not let them outside this apartment. No matter what....and lock this door, and keep it locked", Makensie said.

Ms Cevasco put her hands on her hips, and said, "Makensie Brewer. Just who do you think I am? I may not be in the detective business anymore, and solving cases, but, I am still one tough cookie, and you have nothing to worry about. I have a little friend in my pocket, that I have no problem using if I need to" She showed her a gun, tucked in the waistband of her pants.

She continued on, "Now, you go do whatever you have to do, with the confidence in knowing that your son, as always, is in great hands, as well as Isabella. God forbid something happens, I will shoot first, ask questions later"

Makensie smiles, saying, "I know that you will protect them with your life. I'm just nervous right now is all."

Giving her dear friend/roommate a hug, she stepped out, heading to the docks.

Her intentions weren't to get deeply involved in this, or go off in search, as she felt that since Clift and Violet were doing that, it was best that she stay close to Isabella and Cody. It wouldn't do any good for them ALL to be gone. She just needed to see with her own eyes, what was going on, and more details than what she was getting, then she would return back to her son, and Isabella...and Ms C.

With a quick, brisk walk, she lit up a cigarette, a bad habit she picked up as of late, and headed to the docks.

Violet was sitting on a stone bench watching the burned-down, destroyed house.

She was wrapped in Clift’s leather overcoat against the cold night.

Miss Violet Parr truly could not believe two things about this whole incident and series of seemingly unfortunate events.

The first was the nerve these petty criminals had in kidnapping her beloved daughter from her own home, right under her nose, whilst she was having tea with an old friend. Not only was her daughter’s safety compromised but also the dignity of every single Londoner in the Westminster district.

The second thing Miss Parr truly could not believe was the fact that her motherly instinct overrode a very basic rule of social decorum she implemented throughout her life: being dressed in proper attire outdoors. Violet ran out in her nightgown when Miss Brewer went to tuck the children into bed only to notice Victoria missing.

Violet has anticipated this danger, only she did not imagine it would be Victoria who ends up facing it. Miss Parr knew that her past would soon catch up with her in the most challenging way yet, but being separated from Victoria, the apple of her eyes, was truly unbearable.

Just then she saw Clift Garrett approaching. She felt sorry for Clift: he was acting like a truly honest man, yet for some reason he did not get his share of the fatherhood he was exhibiting.

Clift came and sat next to Violet. “They did not find a child’s body. She must be alive still.”

“It is ironic though, is it not?” Violet spoke indifferently.

“What’s ironic?” Clift sounded.

“That the daughter you weren’t told about is the same daughter whom disappeared from you, from us.” Violet smiled and nodded politely to the police officers she recognised as Leopold’s colleagues.

Clift could not understand her urge to maintain polite fronts and mannered facades in the face of the most gruesome of realities. He shook the thoughts away.

“Gregory Morgan is dead.” Clift shook his head.

“Who is Gregory Morgan?” Violet inquired with sudden sympathy. “A friend?”

“He was a potentially great friend, yes. He is now the deceased friend of our colleague, Mr. Joseph Zeo.” Clift looked to where Leopold Parr was standing next to a handsome gentleman.

“Joseph Zeo.. I have heard of this detective in New York. How is he involved in all this?”

Clift pointed to Joseph Zeo standing next to Leopold discussing the various escalating events of the investigations. “Zeo and Gregory Morgan were assisting the Yard in their investigation of Bergen, head of a criminal group responsible for various homicides here in London. If it was not for Morgan’s loyalty and professionalism we would not have been able to track down and capture Bergen, who happened to be responsible for the kidnapping of our daughter at the time of his arrest.”

“Gregory Morgan." Violet muttered. "I am sorry to hear of his demise.” She turned to Clift. “If you will allow me.”

Violet Parr got up and walked to Joseph Zeo. “Mr. Zeo, I must thank you for all that you have done for us. Please allow me to introduce myself officially, I am Miss-”

“Miss Parr, you do not have to thank me for anything.” Joseph Zeo cut her mid-sentence. “I understand what you must be going through as a mother right. This must be really difficult.”

Violet smiled. “If you will not accept my thanks and gratitude then please accept my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences on the passing of detective Morgan.”

Zeo’s face hardened as his heart was wrenched back into the reality of his dear friend’s death. “Thank you, Miss Parr.”

“Mr. Zeo, I understand that you have been a great help in uncovering this mystery when everyone else was oblivious to its shaded happenings.” Violet nodded.

“Violet,” Leopold interjected. “Our men have rounded up the bodies of everyone seemingly involved in this criminal undertaking. Bergen is being hospitalised but monitored very closely for the time being. The doctors tell me he is paralysed from the waist down and has lost more than half his blood. In all likelihood he will not make it through the night. Striker, Jeffery, Henry and Jack Vile are all confirmed dead.

"There are only two more people recognised during these events to have been present at the time of the kidnapping. They are Joseph Bane as recognised by Detective Zeo to have been on the boat at the time of the kidnapping and our very own Victoria Garrett.”

Violet nodded thoughtfully. “I see… Well that is interesting is it not?”

“Miss Parr,” Zeo comforted Violet. “The Yard will do its very best to retrieve Victoria sooner rather than later. Please don’t worry.”

“Oh, I would not worry about Victoria.” Violet smiled. She then looked to the skies. “Not too much, at least…”

As Violet turned to sit back down, she saw Makensie walking up.

"Mak!! What are you doing here? Nothing happened to Isa -", she started to say, as Makensie approached her.

Makensie waved her hand, saying, "Everything is fine. My dear friend, Ms Cevasco, is with Isabella and Cody, no worries there. I am not a person to sit back, not knowing what is going on. I had to come and find things out for myself"

Violet filled Makensie in on everything that happened.

"....the end result, Victoria is still missing, but, thankfully, her body wasn't found in the fire", Violet was saying.

Makensie put her arm around her friend in comfort, and said, "I'm sure Victoria is just fine, and she will be found. Her father is one of the best detectives out there, right?"

A weird expression came over Violet's face, but Makensie figured it was due to exhaustion, so didn't question her.

She eventually said, after a long pause, "I'm sure you are right, Mak"

Makensie squeezed her shoulders, giving a reassuring smile, and walked to Clift.

Placing a hand on his arm to get his attention, he turned, and smiled.

"I just wanted to come here to find out what was going on, and how everything was going. Violet filled me in", Makensie said.

Clift nods, but remained silent. He looked so tired, but, the person he was, he never stopped until the job was done.

A comfortable silence came between the two, and no words had to be spoken, as they looked at each other.

She smiled, squeezed his arm, walked to Violet, and said, "I want to help, Violet, so,please, if you need me please come for me. Ms Cevasco is there now, and she will be happy to watch the children for as long as needed"

Violet smiled politely, saying, "You already are helping, Mak. I'm sorry this all had to happen on your visit, but, at the same time, I'm glad you're here. Go on back to the apartment to be with Isabella and Cody. I will keep you posted on what is going on, I promise"

Makensie smiled softly, nodded her head, and said her goodbye.

She walked a bit slower on her way back to Violet's apartment, thinking about why Violet seemed so distracted at the mention of Clift, and their daughter, Victoria. Like something was on her mind.

"Ofcourse something is on her mind, you idiot. Her daughter is missing", Makensie said to herself.

She picked up her pace, and headed back to the apartment.
