I agree that would be a nice courtesy to post something like that, but it is seldom done by detectives looking for new homes. I am guilty of not doing so myself.

That being said, having recruited many detectives myself in various agencies throughout my tenure, we ARE detectives and while recruiting there is some research that we must partake in. When I see a post such as this, I look and see if said detective is part of an agency and if so, don't jump to a conclusion that they are a part of it and looking for someplace new, I get the facts straight first. Just like when it's time to accuse a killer, I need rock solid evidence so I don't make a false accusation. The killer doesn't need to tell me, "Hey it was me!" If they are unhappy there, I want to know why and I also give the courtesy of checking with former directors to find out where the unhappiness stems from. Sometimes the player is unscrupulous, sometimes, that type of agency is not for them. i.e. the agency likes to focus on VHing and doesn't TH, or they dont role play.

Part of the reason people may forget to post when they found a home is taht they are too absorbed with getting to know the ins and outs of their new home.

Incidentally I'll put this whole matter to rest right now. Our agency has been a bit inactive as of late, owing in no small part to my having to devote 100% of my time to an internship as I finished up the last leg of college. Clift posted a message informing us of what was going on and thanked us for everything we had done for him.

When I logged on today I received PMs from no less than five detectives wanting to know if everything was okay and making sure that this was a smooth transition. What this tells me is that we are a community. We look out for each other and take on the burdens and concerns of our friends and neighbors as our own. When I was immediately contacted by Clift's new director, I had nothing bad to say about him. The fact is reputation and legacy are huge here in Sleuth Noir and one of the things I love about this community is that we have that close knit community relationship where we can feel comfortable knowing that there is always someone watching out for us. Not watching us, but watching out for us.

There's a line from a song called "Pressing On" by Relient K and that line is, "You look down on me, but you don't look down on me at all." While it is meant to have a religious connotation, I often think of that line while playing Sleuth Noir and I think it fits our community perfectly. We look after each other, but never down on one another.

Clift, I wish you the best of luck in your new home, may you continue to prosper and grow.

To the community, thank you for being there for Obelisk Inc.

I think most of of us have been guilty of not going back to our post, and saying we've found an agency already. Dont worry Clift....you've done nothing wrong ;)
