how do you get in with the order of socrates, the dies arcanium brotherhood, and/or la cosa nostra? like how do you get them to be nice to you and all that? and why is it important to be in one of them or whatever? :-)

Ok. In some cases you work on, it'll come out that the victim was connected to one of these groups. If you solve the case, their opinion if you will go up. Furthermore, if you status with them is above zero, you can see the head of the various groups, getting information, (once you're part of an agency), on treasure hunts and also doing little jobs for them that will increase your standing.

Besides help on treasure hunts, a good relationship with one of the groups will let you purchase "special equipment" that isn't available in the detective shop, and usually boosts your stats much more the stuff in the detective shop. And the more they like you, the better the discount they give for it.
