This thread was inspired by something I just learned today.

I recently started my own business. This means that all the money I make actually goes into a business account that I opened at my existing bank. I pay myself "payroll" and that's the money I can actually use to by shoes and alcohol and such.

So I go online to my shiny spanking new business account and try to transfer money from my business account to my personal account. Apparently this was not as easy as I assumed it would be. So due to my normal technical difficulties using internet services (see post about Advanced Search option in google), I decided to call customer service.

Well... they told me it's not possible. I can only transfer money between accounts if they have the same tax ID on them. And because my Social Security number and my business tax ID do not match, I am not allowed to transfer money online, even though both accounts are mine. I have to write myself a check, go to the bank and deposit it.

This all sounds fishy and I'm not one to let "the man" pull a fast one on me. So I started calling other banks to see if they offered this service. They all told me the same thing. Not allowed.

My last contact was from one of the largest banks and I told him this made absolutely no sense. I got the typical "It's for your protection." So I challenged him that in this day and age of Paypal and online billing to the extent that I never actually see a paper bill because the Gas Company etc. automatically take the money out of my account, that there is no way for me to provide this same service to myself? Nopety nope. It's the industry standard. "Thank you for calling. Did I provide satisfactory service to you today?"

Makes sense right?

I have one! .....at wal-mart, if you buy beer or any alcohol, and u look under FORTY they will ID you, and if u dont have ur ID, they wont sell u the booze. Im like U have to be kidding me? lol I didnt bring my ID in because I dont look under 21 anymore...*sniff sniff*....so, why bring it with me. i dont get asked anymore anyway. I was getting a few things, and picked up some beer..... and because I looked under 40,i had to show ID, which, I had no ID with me,so, i didnt get the beer. Thats stupid. I look over 21, which means Im friggin LEGAL...but, look younger than 40 .........*scratches head* Thats nuts! I think anyway :)

Mak just reminded me of something.

I went to Target a couple of weeks ago and as I was checking out the cashier asked me for ID. I gave her a strange look and she explained it was for the drugs I was buying. I was confused for a bit thinking maybe marijuana became legalized and someone slipped a dime bag into my shopping cart or something. Still obviously looking baffled, she held up a bottle of Metamucil and said, "For this."

huh?

I can understand asking for ID for cold medicine (pseudoephedrine [a type of cold medicine] are the base for making methamphetamines), but Metamucil???? What, are people gonna OD by psyllium?? Get real!! :-.

Mak, when I was 17, I passed for over 21 pretty easily. On the other hand, a friend of mine always makes jokes about me robbing the cradle because I'm 42 and my husband looks like he's 25. (PS- he's 41)

People don't always look their age, and so they give themselves plenty of leeway. Yeah, 40 is probably pushing it quite a bit, but if there weren't so many people in the world just looking to take advantage every chance they get, people like you wouldn't have to deal with stupid laws.

Trust me - that statement made sense when it was in my brain. I'm not sure the fingers adequately conveyed it.

OK, I got one and this actually applies to the game and I've vented about it many times, but it seems I am in the minority, but what's it gonna hurt to whine once more:

Why is it that people can share passwords and give an agency free control over the entire agency and send them gift subs to keep them active, yet when I create more than two detectives, I can't have more than two in the same agency otherwise I'm cheating. I don't even TH as much anymore, but I have obeyed the unwritten rule.

Oh and Mak, don't feel bad, I got IDed for beer today, I actually take it as a complement
