How to attract more people to Sleuth?

If we could name one simple thing to do in Sleuth Noir, to attract more people to start playing or continue playing Sleuht Noir, what would that be?
I am asking here for things that hopefully would be little effort - much gain. Also, because I guess it would be easier to ask Ben for small-effort things, rather than big-effort things.....
And, I really want us to start growing again. Growing in numbers, growing in happiness and fun. Hopefully making more people feel included in the community.
Where do we put the focus?

I need to thank Huglover for bringing this whole subject up! To keep interest up in this game, we have to get it noticed!

I came across Sleuth a little over a yr. ago, by accident, in a search I made. If I had known there was a game like this, that required logic to this extent, I would have been here far sooner!!!

I would say, if there was a good way for making it easier for people like me to find it, it would really be a great thing! How one does that, is totally beyond me..... ?

If I have to sign into several review sites to help, and give testimonials or..... ? I would ,and will do it in a heart beat! If I can help in any way, I'll do what I can, absolutly!

How does one make Sleuth easier to find in a search? How does one establish rave reviews, that are easy to find? And make it prominant .... ???!

Just doing a little brain storming here, cause I really think we need to find a way to bring it "front and center" to the people who would be interested and feel awful that they hadn't found it sooner!

I'll keep thinking myself, and hopfully many of you will as well!

The only item in true colors that I have seen is that Crosage. All the others special items , from crown's key to Serges's knifeboots are all black and white (correct me if I am wrong) with the exception of AVH items of course.

Stormy day I meant all the colors not just purple.I would never want to wear a purple mysterious gentleman!!!!! Of course , if you have all the items colorized , you must also have a way to make them distinct ; so how about pitch black background for the "mundane" items , a gold aura for AVH items , a silver-cyan aura for the special items and a red aura for set items?

Ctown, you could NEVER do anything wrong Darling!! Your tournaments are great, keep up the good work. But just stop giving dates out as prizes. You belong to Stormy Day and I am not going to let anyone forget it. ;-)

As far as the message boards, I would hope that a lively debate on the topics would not put off new comers, but let them know that they are welcome to post comments and offer suggestions. I think anyone who is taking the time to post an idea about keeping sleuth lively and generating more ideas is not putting it down. But loves the game and wants more, more, more!! And as I have proven, feel free to ask stupid questions like "does someone want everything to be PURPLE".

Of course, the personal bickering and airing of dirty laundry would be a welcome change. But even though some of us request it and ask that a PM be sent, others like to put it on the message boards so they can get attention. That is a big problem which I hope goes away and I can see that definitely putting off a newer player from talking on the message board.

It is sad that Honey Op had to post about getting bashed for just writing her opinion as I am sure will happen to me as well. But do it in a PM if ya have the guts, My Dear.

It is true that we should moderate ourselves, but sometimes you respond even when you shouldn't which I am guilty of myself. I think a change in moderators is needed. Change is not always a bad thing. And when an agent doesn't even bother to get a subscription and play the game, why should they be moderating the boards? There have been some definite leaders in the community who are active participants who could take up these positions. Ctown, Sophie, Huglover and many others.

New players, yes - those who have been around can be a little grumpy and bash each other, but don't let it put you off. Jump in and be a part of the community, it really is great. For every person who bashes you, there will be two to back you up!

First off, I would like to apologize if anything that I've posted or PMed came across as negative. It's been a very rough week and sometimes I get carried away with things. Again, if I offended anyone, I am truly sorry, those of you who know me, know that would never be my intent.

Back to the AVH tournaments, I do want to clarify that the contest that I run are not in any way, shape or form meant to be the "Official Arch Villain League" The Arch Viallian League was formed by Serges and Biggie and it will reamin the Arch Villain League. I am just putting things up manually as a way to give something to the community and keep things updated regularly. If people choose not th play in them due to whattever reason, that is their decision. Those that have played in them know that they are a good time and we will continue to put up matches.

If anyone wants to have a tournament hosted on my site, let me know and I'll see what I can do to arrange it. You can also all feel free to do your own tournament type things on your own site. The idea was not mine to begin with, I'm just picking up where things left off. Any questions about this feel free to ask me.

@Stormy Day-

Honey, this place used to be booming. There's honestly no way to explain what happened. But I will try.

In my personal opinion: Noir'ers started to get bored with the game because there were no new releases for a while because Hypo started focusing on SOM. So the Noir'ers took a "break". They glommed onto the hope that SOM would be the wave of the future. Hypo put all their marketing and development efforts into SOM. SOM is a different game and it actually takes a really really long time to solve a case. The game is different and you don't have to be too smart to solve a case. Old Noir'ers got frustrated by the crowd SOM drew on top of the fact that they didn't have 12 hours a day to spend on the game. Newbies in SOM are completely happy with just 4 cases a day (unsubbed) because the thought of 30 is incomprehensible.

So basically, all the old Noir'ers left and didn't find their normal obsession with SOM fulfilled and all the new people in SOM go there because that's what has been marketed but don't feel the need to sub or really participate.

Nicnic's analysis is absolutely correct. Despite the praiseworthy efforts of some Sleuthers, I'm afraid there is not much that any of us can do to revive the old interest in Noir until Ben decides what he wants to do with the game: to create some new content, for instance an automated tournament league, and expand the existing one, like Cairo and the Sleuthetania, or let the game die a slow death. I'm sorry if that sounds pessimistic, but that's how I see things. Everything's in Ben's hands now, as it has always been.

I agree with you on most of this Rosa. Especially the part of it being in Bens hands. But I don't want to think the efforts put forth by some of us have been for naught. I try to do what I can to keep interest up and will continue to do so. we have gotten some feedback from Ben taht things will get better, just not as quick as some would like. That's where it can get frustrating.

I guess the one thing I don't want to see is people stop posting ideas and such. I think there have been some good ideas thrown about and of course Ben has the final say in the matter. Eventually one of them would have to be implemeneted. At least I'd hope so! Look how long it took for the Sleuthetania to come to fruition.
