How to attract more people to Sleuth?

If we could name one simple thing to do in Sleuth Noir, to attract more people to start playing or continue playing Sleuht Noir, what would that be?
I am asking here for things that hopefully would be little effort - much gain. Also, because I guess it would be easier to ask Ben for small-effort things, rather than big-effort things.....
And, I really want us to start growing again. Growing in numbers, growing in happiness and fun. Hopefully making more people feel included in the community.
Where do we put the focus?

The AVH site still exists and still works. Eventhough Serges is not around, Biggie does fix the site when soemone reports to her that somethign got messed up. I have constant contact with her so if need be I can get ahold of her.

The only reason why its inactive right now is because no one has gone to the site to start up a match.

For those of you that do not know the site it is:

www.lkentertainment.net/sleuth

Note: You need to register your detective there as well as put up your detective avatar using the last 3 numbers of your avatar picture.

To get the number you need to right click your picture, go to properties, and look at the URL address for the last 3 numbers in it.

Why does it have to be on another site? Why can't it be in this one?

Madalyn, thats where it was originally set up...anyone want to make an almost identical replica to Serges' using this site...go ahead if Ben allows.

But I'm just saying that there is still a site out there for people to use if they want it automated.

Serges isn't the reason for the inactiveness, it would be rather us as players as eventhough he is gone from the game, its still running and workable , but people stopped using it. :)

Stormy, in case your silly question was asked seriously, I'm sure Mitstux just meant he though black and white photos should be colorised. And if it wasn't asked seriously, then... ummm... *runs out of snappy answers* *flees*

I don't know, I kind of like the idea of colorising a small part of an item, if that makes sense. And not every item, just some of them.

I like the idea of "sets". A bonus for wearing every piece of an set is cool, though I don't know if I'd do five piece sets. Maybe just the clothing; let people carry around whatever accessories so they can individualize.

Anikka, Unfortunately my silly question was asked seriously. i thought maybe sin city was all done in shades of purple or a similar color.

I do like the idea of colorized items, but right now the colorization makes it noticeable that the item is Special. Won in a VH or given as a reward of some type. That distinction is nice.

Well, to be honest, I LIKE everything in black and white! But maybe I'm just old, I dunno.

Just to clarify a few things here. Jas is correct that the site still exists, there have been known to be some bugs in it and that is why I stopped using it. Biggie is the sole remaining Admin for it, but she is not always around to help fix the bugs. When lilangel and myself initially started to do a tourney, we had full intention of using the site, but we were having many glitches with it so decided it would be easiest to do it manually. Biggie had asked me not to use a third party person to contact her and with no other way than to wait for her to log on, which is sometimes weeks on end, it would not be very efficient way to run the tournament using that site for the matches and then tracking brackets and such on our site. I decided it would be easier for all involved to just do things manually.

I do give Serges and Biggie total credit for the inspiration of the idea. I wish his tournaments had taken off over there. I am not a programmer so don't know how to get the site to go automated, but thats not a big deal to me. I have no problem doing things manually and for the most part, try to keep everything up to date.

Also, if you listened to the debut edition of SleuthTalk Radio, Ben did mention that sometime in the future hw would like to have something like this implemented. He mentioned it during the segment when Breitkat called in. It's just gonna take him some time as he needs to figure out a way to give us access to certain parts of the code and such. You can listen to the show here:

Ani has a great idea as far as making different tournaments and she did come up with a new one that I think is fabulous, I will be talking about it more on tomorrows edition of the radio show and possibly have a start date announced for it. I really don't mind running any of them on the site as I enjoy being on the computer.

All of that being said, if anyone has ideas for a type of competition, send me a PM and we can talk about them and I will have no problem hosting on DPI's website. All I care about is for all of to have fun with the game. Thats why we are here isn't it?
