What about a very expensive skill (30 skill points?) which gives you information about how many cases left from a favor, or above of a favor?
Opinions?

I'm not sure I understand. Provided you solve the favour, it's always 3 solved cases to your next favour, or 4 solved cases if you don't. The only time this changes is if you travel to a new city whilst holding a favour, in that case you lose it and have to solve 4 cases. Perhaps I've missed the point?

Maybe you could have a skill where, after solving the case before a favour, the ending reveals who the next favour is with. Only a minor advantage, in that you can go straight to the right townie, rather than having to ask around. A "Charisma" skill, because people just want to talk to you and ask for your help? Also, it might be a good idea to throw in a few missions to acquire it, like with flat black or Cairo shoes?

So you wold go to the detective page and because you have this skill it would say "2 cases and then the barber would like to see me"
or something like that?

I'm actually in favour of it only because I tend to loose track from day to day if I'm on a treasure hunt. After I've done my "saved" favour and then up to 3 cases (checking after every one) there's no problem.

I'm also in favour of having to follow a set of clues where you ask people in different cities about the skill until one of them is willing to teach you. Would make it suitably difficult.

I know that the skill will not be one of the first skills you buy, because just as you say, we all know when a favor comes, but if you either have multiple sleuths, or don't always make sure to note down somewhere if you were one or two cases away from a favor, or may be 3, or if you were one or two cases above a favor, it will be "case-expensive" to test it out.
At least I prefer when in a treasure hunt to travel from my agency-home-city so that I will have a favor after the first case I solve in the new city. This way trying to maximize the amount of favors I can get "abroad"...
In my agency-home-city I may use cases from the case files to "prepare myself", but it would be just nice to know when I am prepared, without having to first come to do a favor, do the favor, and then do 2 more cases before travelling... ;-)
I thought that if you had the skill, it would say things like:
2 cases to next favor
1 case done after favor for the Music Teacher revealed
- Even the game don't know (I think) what kind of favor you will get after those 2 cases, so it would be hard to know. It might be that you travelled to another city before the favor would be revealed.... ;-)

I also liked the idea of Kasg52. :-)
With that skill, it might be a link that come up on the case page WHEN the twist have occured, which will show you what kind of twist you got?
What if you were desperately searching for a LARRY case?
- it would be SOOOO useful to know if the twist had occured, and was or was not a larry case....

What about a skill that would make sure you did not get the same favor for the same townie within 5 consecutive favors? (must be a always works skill)

Well, I'd love that skill for AVH clues!! :D

As for a skill that counts how many cases you did since your last favour, maybe keep a tally on your bio? It only takes a couple of seconds to do that. (Can you tell I'm not sold on that one? ;) )

I guess that if the skill of getting the "cases-favor-count" would be availiable, I would try to get that skill, while Brasco would probably have no interest in that skill :-)
It's no problem. We are all free to choose which skills we want. There is no rule anywhere that a skill must be seen useful by the whole community?
It's the same with other skills as well... Not everyone wants safe cracking or stress detection or a compact travel kit... ;-) Still we apreciate that the options are there. :-)

My "dream skill" is to be used with underworld connections. I'd like the faction to rough up my runaway witness/suspect enough to answer 1 or 2 questions. As it is now they always come back clammed.

Actually, I would get it, but that's only because I have nothing else to spend my skill points on :P

So an "advanced undeworld connections" Sophie?
Or possibly "deep underworld connections" ?
