Sleuth About Town

Lil put up a sign, saying, "This is where we come up with a story and it ought to focus on something other than fellow detectives." on her front window. She had just opened up a pub where all kinds of characters could enter and talk about anything and everything.

Bonelady walked into the bar, it had been a long day and she just wanted to unwind with a glass of wine. As she sat down Lil came walking out of the back room. "Bonelady, I'm glad your here, Ctowns been at the whiskey again and hes out cold in the back. I really don't have time to attend to him, do you think you can help me out here?" Lil asked.

Bonelady chuckled, "Let me guess, one shot? I tell you that guy cannot hold his liquor. Let me tell you how to revive him when he does things like this, it never fails"

Bonelady got up and whispered something into Lil's ear.

Lil started laughing, "You gotta be kidding me? That's the remedy for his whiskey troubles? Oh he's not gonna live this one down. Thanks for the help. Bartender, get Bonelady a glass of wine on the house"

Lil left Bonelady to herself and made her way into the back room

Lil does as she's instructed by Bonelady, and she kneels over Ctown once more. With the remedy in one hand, and the other resting on the floor at Ctown's side, holding her up for balance... Lil hoped for the best.

Sure enough, it worked. Ctown's eyes opened in an instant and Lil started laughing hysterically. Bonelady heard Lil laughing while she was at the bar drinking her wine. Bonelady knew why, and she looked around and the others had their eyes toward the closed door, looking puzzled.

Lil walked out the door first, still giggling, followed by Ctown.

Demon of the Due Date

Missy quietly slipped in the door to the quaint pub. "Finally, a nice place to relax" she thought as she eased in to the booth in the corner. It seemed like everywhere she had tried to find a few moments to herself lately had been so crowded, she had almost given up.

She ordered the drink of the day and began shuffling through her briefcase looking for all of the notes she had been making on her "secret" research. She had been travelling around and interviewing everyone she ran across looking for anyone who might have any information but so far, it had been all dead ends.

She jotted a reminder for herself to look in to running an ad to see if anyone might want to team up and work together. She put all of her papers back in her briefcase, paid her tab and headed out the door. She was determined to catch "the Snake" she had been chasing so she could get back to her 'secret' investigation.

With a rustle and a groan, Trusty raised his head from behind the bar. Perplexed by his location, yet without hesitation, he reached for his pocket-sized guide to 'Snake Jokes, Subtlety and Tomfoolery'.

Realising nothing reverent existed, he was about to open his mouth anyway, when out of the book fell his file marked 'Secret #1'. So that's where he'd hidden it! His mind wandered back to that fateful night. Sure, there were benefits to liaising with the Gurentai Mob. Not least their supply of imported spices from across the world. He licked paprika off the back of his hand.

Fortunately, (or was it a helpful coincidence?) ctown's inebriation had been the perfect distraction from his gaffe and he picked up the papers. If only he could understand that weird diagram. Was it a......washing machine?? Late Edwardian edition, naturally.

Walking out from the back room, Ctown tried collecting his thoughts as he saw Missy leaving, Trusty looking confused and . Bonelady and Lil giggling away like a couple of school girls.

"Ok ladies, out with it, what could possibly be so funny?" he asked.

Lil tried to compose herself, "Well theres a little something more I know about you now, care for another shot of whiskey, I'll revive you again!" she told him.

Ctown's face suddenly went pale. "Again? What do you mean again?" he questioned. He looked over at Bonelady, "Oh no, you didn't?"

"Oh yes I did, I just couldn't keep it to myself anymore, besides someone else needs to know how to do that as well" Bonelady told Ctown.

"Ok, that I understand, but you had to tell her? While your at it why don't you tell topkebab and Aunt Pittypat as well?" he said sarcastically.

No sooner did he get that out of his mouth did topkebab and Auntie come walking through the door of the bar.

Ctowns jaw hit the floor.

Auntie walked through the door. She had been traveling quite a bit hunting down those villains who were on the run and because of this, she desperately missed her time to get together with friends and gossip.

Looking around she smiled as she saw all the familiar faces, Lil, Miss Snopes (who she had passed on the way out), VS, Bonelady and most of all her wittle Ctown.

"Hello Everyone", Auntie said loudly and waved as she headed straight to the bar. "I'd like a bourbon" she told the bartender "with a beer chaser, of course"

Auntie downed her drink and walked over to the group standing in the middle of the room. Reaching up she grabbed Ctown's cheeks in her fingers and pinched, shaking his head back and forth. "Hows Auntie's good boy?" Ctown looked down at the ground with a look of dispair on his face, while Bonelady and Lil burst out laughing.

"It's good to see you, Auntie" Bonelady said. "Why don't me and you go over to the bar and get another round. There's a few things I need to tell you"

She had been standing outside, debating within herself whether to go in or not. But when she realized that she was hungry, Aknas finally entered the pub.

She went straight to a booth in a corner and very discreetly, she surveyed the room. She saw people laughing and having a good time. She would like to join them, but she was on a mission.

The mission! She almost forgot about it! She has to accomplish it before its too late!

So Aknas left the pub as discreetly as possible, once again forgetting that she was hungry.

Lil followed Bonelady as she knew that Bonelady would need her confirmation when telling Auntie about her 'good boy'. Lil was still giggling about Ctown's recent embarrassment, not to mention the goodies about him that Auntie was about to hear. Out of the corner of her eye, Lil saw Ctown trying to make his way over to the bar, to stop Bonelady from opening her mouth once again, since Lil already knew, she told Auntie, Ctown's trying to make his way over here, and is actually making through the crowds quite quickly. Lil told Bonelady, "Hurry up, tell her so he can't stop you."

Ctown's running through the crowd, weaving in and out trying to avoid collision, but, what would you know, that failed miserably. He was such a klutz. Now Lil had to excuse herself because she had a mess to attend to... and Lil left briefly, and had the waitress get something to clean up the mess, and a few feet away, she could hear a burst of laughter. Lil knew, Auntie had found out about the latest, juiciest, gossip about Ctown.

Lil had heard Auntie ask Ctown, who was still a couple of feet away, loudly, "Would you like some whiskey?"

Still a few feet ahead of her, she saw Topkebab, who looked rather confused. Lil motioned for Topkebab to come closer to her. As Topkebab made her way to Lil, Ctown stopped dead in his tracks, spun on his heels and saw Topkebab getting closer to Lil. "Oh no you don't!" Lil heard Ctown say. Lil grinned.

Hawkeye Harris
Hawkeye Harris
Battered Shoe

May-18-2008 17:53

Hawkeye strolls into the new pub in Sleuthville, curiously glancing around as he walks up to the bar. Most of his old cronies seem to have taken assignments in other cities (Doylesburgh, North Christie, Hammett Square), but he feels he has enough to keep him busy in his various intercontinental travels without adding to his current caseload. One never knows when one might be called upon to apprehend an extremely nasty villain on the loose (although there seem to be enough able hunters now and Hawk can slow his pace without feeling guilt over the safety of the denizens of Sleuthville). Since many of the faces in the pub are new, Hawk orders a pint and sits at the bar brooding, thinking about the old times as he gazes into his mug. Unable to avoid overhearing the conversations going on around him, he gives up trying to politely ignore them and begins to listen with interest. “Hmm, quite a lively bunch, I like that”, he thinks. “Some of them can’t hold their liquor, though” he muses, grinning. Draining his mug, Hawk ambles out of the pub, hoping to come again and perhaps form some new friendships. Feeling the cool rush of air hit his face as the door swings shut behind him, he feels a familiar thrill of anticipation as he sets out on his next case.

Lil walks in, after a long break from her pub, and noticed that no one else has been here either. Looks like they all stopped coming after she had left. She's going to be busy trying to get this place busy again. She started cleaning up and making things shine again.
