Had a bit of an 'oops' come up. Over the last 2 weeks, I"ve been dealing with a rather excruciating migraine. Standard meds have done little to help. After several trips to the E.R., I suffered a fall and blow to my head, and briefly passed out. After extensive tests, MRIs and CAT scans, the doctors found a small thrombosis, or blood clot, in my brain.

I've had a stroke.

I was released from the hospital yesterday, and am now recovering at home. The doctors are treating the stroke aggressively, and working very hard to prevent a repeat occurrence. I have a great medical team, and my family has been wonderful through all of this.

I greatly appreciate all of your encouragement and support. It's going to take time for me to get back on my feet, and your interest and caring will be invaluable to me. I thank you for that!!

Hope all of you are doing well. Again, thank you. ;-)

These are indeed serious news . As I deal with these kind of conditions almost every day I have to tell you the following.
1. Avoid Computers for a month at least
2. Treat your hypertension and keep it below 12/8
3. Take care of your cholesterol level. Must be below maximum 170 total cholesterol
4. Take a 100mg Aspirin per day for ever
5. Take Vitamin E every day for ever
6. Avoid stress at any cost

AND MOST OF ALL BE HAPPY THAT YOU HAVE SURVIVED AND DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THE FUTURE. THESE THINGS HAPPEN AND ONCE YOU TAKE CARE OF THEM THEY WILL NEVER COME BACK AGAIN !!!

7. Never allow oppression to occur (who wants a second problem anyway)

SMILE AND LOOK THE FUTURE WITH HOPE

Breitkat:

Working in the medical field I see firsthand the wonders of modern medicine and the amazing recovery patients make everyday who have suffered strokes, brain injuries and trauma's.

These kinds of diagnosis are not the end of things. You may have a while to recuperate but with the help of your doctors and healthcare team I am sure you will make a full and speedy recovery.

As Vampiric Smile posted...very good advice for everyone....those are just the start of making lifestyle changes for the best.

Breit, I have some serious stuff too, the best advice is listen to your Dr. and follow his/her instructions. Oh, and let your family love and pamper you as much as they want...it will make them feel better its part of their dealing with it too.

Good rest and God's blessings.
