Okay, something has been bothering me and I know it's sort of silly, but I wonder if anyone else noticed this.

It's the rating of equipment. For instance, I saw that someone (well, it's Breitkat, actually) has a White Parrot. And the description says the parrot is CLEVER. But its rating is:

Smart: -1
Charm: +7

That makes no sense!!! If the parrot is clever, then it should have some smart points!!! I also noticed that for some other items as well...

What gives???

well spotted diane!! haha
perhaps the parrot is clever enough to know that smart equipment isn't as well loved as charming

I'll admit he's an intelligent bird. (He's had to be to stay in one piece around a feather-loving tiger. ;-) I'm not quite sure why Admin chose to put the stats on him that he got, and the description that he did. But maybe it has something to do with his name (though how Ben would've figured out my bird's name more than a year before I got him is a bit beyond me...;-). Then again, Ben is the SleuthGod around here. Hmmmm....

I thought Tiger's Tidbit was a rather cute name for him. How bout you, Tidbit?

Thought so. ;-)

I always thought that the parrot's negative smart points weren't anything to do with how clever the parrot was, but represented the fact that it's a lot harder to snoop about looking for clues when you're being distracted by something sitting on your shoulder and squawking into your ear.

That's why mine goes back to his perch when it's crime scene time. He does tend to sulk a bit, though...

The Stat do not represent the equipment itself ! but they represent the effect of the equipment on the carrier (detective).

So the question is not how smart a parrot can be ! But how smart a detective carring a parrot can be ! (I agrre with Cordelia ...espesially in a crime scene!)

Well, if the bird is that clever, he/she should be able to poke around the crime scene and find evidence I might otherwise miss.

But my thought on the "clever" parrot was that it was "clever" enough to talk and maybe do a trick or two - something that entertains people and, well, charms them.
