I would like to see a limit on the number of times the Pirates can attack you in a day. I was attacked 3 times going from Shangai to London. So now I am stuck in Shangai and I am unable to play a game that I am paying for. I subscribed to play 12 cases a day. Doesn't really seem fair that I don't get to play ANY.

I think pirates should attack once a day. OR put something in place so that not ALL of your cases are taken. Yes, I know about Hostage Negotiation but for new players trying to get other skills this is really bad.

Thanks Ctown. I would even like to be able to BRIBE those darn pirates with additional money instead of cases. lol At least I could still play.

Once I can understand...it's part of the game..LOL But 3 times is way too much. I agree that there should be a limit per day, that way at least, you could get to do a couple of cases :))

It's happened to me twice in a row and left me in the same boat... I agree with Aunt Pittypat (and I love your persona!) - once is okay, but two or three times is too much.

I, too, remember being very frustrated by the pirates hitting me twice in a row. Even though they didn't take all of my cases, I was only left with enough to get where I was going on the next try.

For a new or lower-experience player, this has got to be the most frustrating part of the game, worse maybe than those expensive false accusations. At least you have a chance of avoiding fa's - you have no choice with the pirates and no idea when you might get hit.

So, I also say that there should be some kind of change! Some of the possibilities (most already stated, I'm just making a list):

1. Daily Limit: once the pirates hit you, that's it for the day.

2. A limit on the amount of cases they can take. Perhaps each time they hit you they only take one case.

3. A limit wherein they can take the full number of cases but once you've paid them five or six cases, they can't take more (I know, that's still a lot, but it's better than losing TWELVE!).

4. The pirates take bribes - you can choose between losing cases or losing money.

5. They take the full number of cases but you still get to go where you were going (instead of getting turned back to the port you left). This is not necessarily the same as only getting hit once per day: I leave NY for London and get pirated, losing two cases...work a few cases then decide to head back to NY, get pirated again, and lose two more cases. But it was my choice to do the return trip, knowing I might get pirated again - and at least I got to London.

As Turtledove said, it's part of the game; but to lose all your daily cases to the pirates, well...that's just a turn-off.

Dear Aunt
You have my sympathy !
Next time that Pirates will attack you just wait for 5 min untill you try to travel again ! Do not puss the travel button immediatelly because they are out there waiting for you. Wait for 5 min and then safely travel.
Pirates is a minor problem in sleuth (if you respect the above mentioned rule)
Try it next time and enjoy!

Anikka,

I like the bribe idea! And I agree on the daily limit.

Most of you guys weren't around when the Pirates first showed up on the scene, but for months up to their introduction, we had a guy around here, Jroepel, who was absolutely OBSESSED with pirates. None of us at the time knew what they would be doing, just that they would be part of the newest expansion, and he thought that was the greatest thing ever! He was on the edge of his seat, and driving most of us nuts for weeks before the Shangri-la expansion rolled out.

Finally, the first day of the expansion came, and JR took off for Shangri-la from his home like his tail had been set on fire. Instantly, he met up with the pirates! (This was when you could actually be pirated on your way to and from Shangri-la.) Suddenly, he wasn't so thrilled about the pirates. Then, he tried heading to Shangri-la again. And guess what....Yep, two for two. ;-)

Our resident pirate maniac was the first person not only to be pirated, but to lose all his cases because of them. He was NOT a happy camper!! ;-)

Logging off and waiting a few minutes before traveling again USUALLY works, yes. I do think all of Ani's ideas have merit though. It seems like the ones who need the most help get hit the worst by pirates, and there's little anybody can do about it. I hope this idea gets some contemplation from Admin.

My sympathies, Pittypat. I hope things go better for you tomorrow. ;-)

Vampiric, I DID wait. I waited 30 minutes the first time. Got attacked. Went to lunch, did some some shopping, came back at least 2 hours later and got attacked the THIRD time. So unfortunately, waiting the 5 minutes doesn't always work. :-( At least it did not work for me.

I realize this is part of the game. But it would be nice to have been able to play today since I really enjoy Sleuthing.

Breitkat, your story made me LOL.

I hate pirates now. I want to be on a personal mission to destroy the pirates.

Pirates Delenda Est!
