How do you unlock the themes for the background?

moving this to newbies.

If certain themes were bought from factions, then you would probably need a goodish standing with them to buy them... I would suppose.

Okay, I hate asking and should probably just wait until the "answer reveals itself in time," but I'm going to ask anyway (that's what a newbie board is for, and technically I *was* born yesterday) - what's a theme??? I didn't see it in the faq, and so far this is the only post I've found that mentions them.

A theme is basically a little background for your detective. In this case the themes are located on the top left corner of your screen.

Yes, as always Lady Jas is correct :)

Please note as a newbie you can play the game perfectly well without changing your "theme" - themes are just something else to buy once you start amassing large sums of money and favor with the factions :D

if i remember correctly, as a newbie you start with a choice of two themes, "classic sleuth" and "shady character".

LJ is correct but a bit cryptic,"background" can mean history too. But thats not the case here. A theme, or background, in this case is refering to a PC term- the wallpaper of the screen while you're playing the game. (She hates it when I get techie, thats why I do it )

Oh, okay - it's just the wallpaper, and has nothing to do with the cases you get or the way the game is played? Okay. I like my "shady character." Thanks! :-)
